Caught

Hunter, Cliff and Binar

Hunter shot up in bed, fully awake. Someone had triggered the trap he had left in Julie's online game. The trap was linked to him, and he followed the line back to the trap. His mind shifted into cyberspace where he found another Dathrian wrapped up in chains. Cyberly speaking, of course.

"So, you're the one who likes to meddle with Julie's game," he said. "I had a feeling her latest update would lure you in. I'm sure she doesn't appreciate you tampering."

"Aww, c'mon man," said Cliff. "I was just doin' her a favour. She didn't get the -"

"Why don't you just contact her and tell her? Like all the other people who play?" Hunter frowned.

Cliff shrugged.

"Really, if you're so interested, contact her," Hunter advised. "She's a really nice person when you get to know her. And for a human she's managed to get a pretty good setup."

"True. Don't see many human females programming computer games on their own and still managing to keep the human hackers and cracker out."

It was at that point that the chains were released. Hunter frowned, and realised that the trap had been dismantled without his say so. Cliff grinned.

"My friend Binar!" he explained as his image started to fade out. "Mutant. Can't do some stuff we can, but he can do a heck of a lot we can't! Nice meeting you!"

Cliff then disappeared. Hunter reset the trap for what it was worth, then left cyberspace, a little annnoyed.

Apon arrival at the real world, Hunter tapped off an email to Julie to let her know what happened.
