Kylie slipped into the nursary. Ella was on her day off, Zac was at a band practice, and those cats were off playing. It was just her and the babies.
She looked at them all. Dee Dee celebrated her first birthday two days ago. The abnormal baby, Elektra who appeared to be five months old even though she only arrived last December. And of course, her precious one, Brock, only born last month.
Kylie had come to a conclusion - as long as Zac had other children in the house, he wouldn't be paying her the attention she deserved. Also, children in the house meant that Ella had to be there. If she could get rid of the children, her problems would be solved, and she, at long last, would have Zac all to herself. She had already put poison into the chicken leftovers in the fridge (which she knew Saku planned on eating later), and was now planning on strangling Dee Dee and Elektra.
It didn't seem to occur to her that if she killed all the children bar her own on the same day, people might actually get suspicious, and if Zac knew that Kylie had killed them, she'd be the last person he'd want to be with. But can you really expect obsessed, crazy people to understand thngs like that?
Kylie put her hand around the neck of Dee Dee and started to apply pressure when to her utter astonishment, found her hand being removed from Dee Dee by some unknown source. Frowning, she tried to replace her hand around Dee Dee's neck but was simply, physically unable to do it!
"I'm so glad I came up here."
Kylie whirled around to see a very unimpressed Saku leaning against the door frame, arms folded across his chest.
"You!" Kylie snarled.
She lunged towards Saku, who by stepped her easily.
"I should have realised you'd try to kill us," Saku growled. "What? You think I wouldn't notice that you poisoned my chicken? I'm a godling, and you're just a pathetic human/dathrian hyrbid that doesn't have any powers. You can't kill me that easily."
Saku, upon noticing his chicken had been so rudely defiled, had decided to go upstairs to check up on the babies and cast a protection spell - mentally berating himself for not doing so earlier. Although, he never would have thought that Kylie would stoop that low, no matter how much he hated her.
"You should never have been born!" Kylie screamed. "Zac's mine! Not yours! He's mine! Mine!"
"You're obsessed," Saku replied. "And you have some serious issues. You need help - but maybe I should save everyone the trouble and kill you now."
Kylie shrieked incoherantly again and tried to attack Saku again. Saku caught her this time, and then pushed her out the nursary and sent a ring of fire around her.
"You try to walk through that," he warned her, "and you're dead. Actually I'm wondering how well you're going to survive the heat as it is... sweating already I see."
In hindsight, he didn't know why Zac thought it would be okay if he went to band practice for a couple of hours when Ella was on her day off. Hmm... but Saku supposed that Zac didn't realise Kylie was psycho either.
Saku reached for the nearest phone and called Zac.
"C'mon Dad... don't be playing the music so loud you can't hear the phone," Saku muttered.
The call rang through with no pickup. Saku tried again. Just as he thought he should try ringing someone else, it was answered.
"Hello?"
"Dad!" Saku said, relieved. "Saku here - "
"Is that Kylie shrieking in the background?" Zac asked, rolling his eyes. "Okay, did you do this time?"
"Oh, I put a ring of fire around her, so she can't move without killing herself. Actually if she's there long enough dehydration might get her."
"Saku. Let her go."
"Umm, no. Not this time Dad. That's a very bad idea."
"Uh huh. And why's that?"
"She poisoned my food and then tried to strangle Dee Dee."
Silence.
"What? Saku if this is -"
"I promise I wouldn't lie about something like this."
"Yeah... I believe you Saku."
"Good. Because it's the truth."
"I'll be right there. You kids okay?"
"Yeah. I noticed the poisoned food right away - amatur. She didn't get to Elektra, and I'm not really sure what kept her from strangling Dee Dee... she was having a really good try when I walked in but something kept throwing her off..."
"Hmm, okay."
They ended the call not long after that, and Zac (after giving a brief explanation to his brothers) hastened his return home.
Zac entered the hallway where Kylie was still surrounded by the flames. Saku had been in the nursary with the babies, generally keeping an eye on them while he waited.
"Zac! Zac make your infernal child let me go!" she screamed.
"Saku?"
"Yeah?"
"Would you mind?"
Saku pursed his lips, then disappeared the flames. There was sign to show there had ever been a fire there.
"Thank you Zac," Kylie replied, rushing to close the distance.
Zac held up his hand.
"You tried to kill my children?" he questioned.
"Lies! All lies!"
"You were trying to strangle Dee Dee!" Saku shouted. "You poisoned my food! You're the liar!"
"You tried to kill me! You're trying to keep me and Zac apart! But we belong together," Kylie shreiked. "You can't take him from me! I won't let you!"
She turned to attack Saku, but was frozen in midstride. Saku looked at Zac, who was wearing a very unhappy expression on his face.
"I had no idea," he said softly. "I'm going to call the YIRAAS and get this mess sorted. Obviously she needs help, and she can't stay here any more."
He headed for the phone.
Hours later Kylie had been picked up and taken to a mental health facility. The paperwork side was already into full swing. A telepath had easily verified what had happened, and had even figured out why Kylie hadn't been able to strangle Dee Dee: Telekinesis.
The idea that Dee Dee had telekinesis didn't really shock Zac when he remembered that her mutant mother Desiree had telekinesis and invisibility - mutant powers being herediary and all.
Saku still cast a protection spell over his half siblings, although he was sorely tempted not to bother doing one for Brock. The deciding factor was that children shouldn't be punished for the sins of their parents.
