Wayne arrived at the rehab center on the space station, and was greeted by the director.
"So, how our new patient?"
"Mr Thomas hasn't woken up as yet," the director replied, then checked his watch. "But I believe the drugs are due to let up soon, so lets see how things are doing."
"Okay," Wayne replied as they began walking. "I sincerely hope that this works out for him - and us, too of course."
"We will certainly do our best."
"Good."
Christian
Christian's breathing heavied as he began to awake, his eyes eventually sliding open with extra effort.
He was in a room with a grey ceiling - that was his first observation.
The second was that he was on a bed.
He groaned as he sat up, rubbing his eyes with his right hand, before finally looking around. Taking in his surroundings it was obvious he hadn't come of his own free will, and he began to wonder exactly who had him.
He sat back against the wall on the bed, moving carefully as the drugs in his system were far from wearing off completely. Scratching his head, he eyed the mirror, noticing vaguely that he was barefoot and only in his singlet and jeans.
Wayne
The directors' pager beeped, and he checked it.
"Ahh, we're in luck," he said. "Christian's just woken up."
"Very good," Wayne nodded.
In just a few minutes, they arrived and met up with the nurse who had been keeping an eye on Christain.
"He's just sitting up in bed at the moment," she said.
The director nodded.
"Can we see him?" Wayne asked.
"Sure," the director said.
He opened up the door, and he and Wayne stepped in.
Christian
Christian didn't move a muscle as the two men stepped through.
He seemed to recognise the older one, but he couldn't quite put his finger on who it was.
"So who are you?" he demanded tiredly, mismatched eyes on them.
Wayne
"I'm Dr Morton," the director replied. "The director of the YIRAAS Criminal Rehabilitation Centre. This is Wayne Thompson, head of YIRAAS Security."
Wayne nodded and watched the young man with some interest.
"How are you feeling?" Dr Morton asked.
Christian
Christian took a deep breath, a cold chill creeping through him all of a sudden.
"What do you think I feel like? Crap," he said, tone of voice not changing.
Mainly because he was too tired to bother.
Wayne
"Whoever it was that was after you darted you with a sedative. You've been out just over 24 hours," Dr Morton said. "It'll probably be another hour or so before the effect wears off completely."
"Leroy intervened," Wayne said. "He was in the neighbourhood and bumped into you. He brought you here."
Christian
Christian stared at them for a moment, before turning his eyes to the ceiling again.
"Great."
He winced as he shifted slightly.
"So what do you want? What do I have to do here?"
Wayne
Wayne let Dr Morton take over - this was his show.
"What we want is to help you," Dr Morton replied. "We want to give you a chance to re-establish yourself, and hopefully gain a new life. Right now, all we ask is your co-operation. In a day or so you'll meet the other residents. We've got a variety of workshops for you to participate in. To start off, however we do ask that you let our Healer check you over, just to take care of any health problems you may not have had treated. And we're also going to start regular counceliing sessions."
Christian
Christian sighed with a gulp, letting that sink in.
"Go ahead," he murmured, closing his eyes for a bit, tiredly.
Wayne
"We'll let you sleep off the rest of the sedative," Dr Morton said.
Wayne gave Christian a nod and followed Dr Morton back out again.
"So," he asked. "What's Christian's visitor privlages going to be like? I know someone, a couple of someones actually, who would like to contact him."
Christian
Christian frowned when he heard them leave, trying extremely hard to keep himself together when he was sure he was still in their line of vision.
"I think we'll have to see how he fares in the first week or so," Dr Morton replied, "we need to access what sort of danger he is first."
Wayne
Wayne nodded.
"Very well," he said. "I want to see regular reports on him."
"Of course," Dr Morton nodded.
"Anyway, I should go," Wayne replied. "I've other business to attend to."
"Very well. I'll keep you posted."
