Leroy answered the phone.
"Hello?"
"Leroy, Wayne here. Listen, Christian just called Tanya."
"He what?"
"Called Tanya - to break off contact. Look, he's about to split - but we traced the call and he's in Tulsa."
Wayne rattled off the address of where the phone Christian had used in question was.
"Right," said Leroy. "I'll get right on it."
"Good man."
"By the way... what about Tanya?"
Pause.
"Tanya knew the line was tapped," Wayne said finally. "She didn't have to identify the caller, but she did."
"Probably not intensionally -"
"Obviously," Wayne went on as if Leroy hadn't said a thing, "this was Tanya's way of letting me know that this call had to be traced without calling any undue attention."
Then Leroy caught onto the fact that they were coming up with a story.
"Oh, yes of course," Leroy agreed. "Tanya's always said that she wanted to be someone Christian could trust - and she's always wanted the best for him."
"Absolutely. Obviously all this time she's been working to reel him in, and silly us never got the hint."
"Yeah. We've gotten soft from not being on the field."
"Yeah. Plus woman are always complaining that men never get their hints."
"Well, we don't."
"So everything good?" Wayne asked asfter a chuckle.
"Yes indeed. I'll get right on that address and see what I can find."
"Great. Keep me posted."
"Will do."
The men hung up. Leroy dressed and headed for the address that Wayne had given him, hoping that there was someone around who would remember seeing Christian on the phone, and which way he went.
