A new ploy

Written by Michelle

Whip, Mark and Shannon

"Aww look," said Bonnie, pointing. "Marky-poos has a crush on someone.

Whip looked over to where she was pointing. Mark was walking determindly by, a bunch of red roses on his hands.

"Hey Mark!" Arthur called. "Valentines Day was last week."

They all laughed. It was nice to get their own back occasionally, given the number of times Mark had gotten them into trouble with Scott. Although, rumour had it that Scott was no longer listening to Mark's reports. Maybe it was because he hadn't been there as long as the others, but Whip just felt sorry for him.

Mark ignored them and continued on his way. Shortly there was no one else in the hallway and Mark had arrived at his destination - Shannon's room. He put the flowers down outside her door, and then made his escape. He couldn't see Shannon in his probes, and looking out for Briar didn't help either. If he was in the kitchen with Shannon and she opened the fridge, his probe didn't even pick up the opening of the fridge. It was maddening!

He decided that the whole 'crush on the teacher' thing was the way to go, even though she had been a student too when he arrived, so she wasn't really that much older. And the whole thing was plausable - Shannon had been manning the Danger Room a lot lately - and because Scott was so determined for him to get his hours up, he had been spending a lot of time with her.

Ugh. The Danger Room. Mark hated the danger room. He couldn't fight. He tried! He just couldn't. He wasn't made to fight. He was made to watch. So mostly he just worked on hiding. He knew that Logan especially was getting frustrated with him. Shannon and Scott tried to give pointers and instructions, but their patience was wearing thin too. Why couldn't they understand?

Mark heard someone coming down the hall. Given that his probe picked up no one, he figured it was Shannon, and made himself scare.

It was indeed Shannon, Briar in hand. She paused, and blinked when she saw the flowers outside her door. Frowning slightly, Shannon opened the door and put Briar in her cot first, then came back for the flowers. There was a note attached, and she chuckled upon reading it.

"Classic 'secret admirer' note," she mused.

She wasn't sure what to make of such a scenario, but put the flowers in a vase of water.
