Eron Hart XV, and his friends Tim and Billy were with a group of their fellow school mates waiting to get into the Slayer school for the dance. Their own school was still in construction in some areas although classes and such had already started.
"How long do you think it'll be before they open the gates?" Billy asked.
"Probably not that long," Eron replied.
"Well, it's cold out here. I hope they hurry up," Tim put in.
**********
Meanwhilst, on the other side of the gates Friday was shaking her head in disgust at the number of her friends who were doing weird things like fussing over their hair and putting on make up, and fretting about clothes.
"Day," Selena said patiently, "we may be slayers, but we're still girls."
"That doesn't change anything," Friday insisted. "C'monnnnn... I wanna get to the hall..."
Draco, Percy and Cassie
Declan, Dustin, Colin and Edmund Doyle followed Draco and Percy as they sauntered up to the gate alongside the others.
"Hail brethren!" Draco called, making the other boys laughs.
"They girls take entirely too long getting ready," Declan complained. "As if half the boys here weren't already related to them!"
"Let's just make this clear," Percy said to the other boys. "I'm Percy, and this is my brother Draco. Inside this school, is a girl named Cassie. If any one of you, hits on said girl, we will skin alive and play jump rope with your esophagus."
"She's our sister," Draco said simply.
**********
Cassie and Armelle got ready for the dance with the other girls.
"Ugh." Cassie said. "I don't even know why I'm bothering. Two of my brothers are going to be here, and they'd have to be unconscious just to let me near any boy I wasn't related to."
"That could be arranged," Armelle suggested.
Friday and Saku
"Draco, Percy," Eron said. "You can rest assured that, should we ever encounter your sister, our intentions will be honourable."
Tim was about to say something when a portal opened up and two cats walked out. Namely, Saku and Orion. Saku immediately shifted to human, looked around and said:
"So, the party started yet?"
"No, we're waiting for them to open the gates," Billy said. "They should have opened half an hour ago."
**********
"Okay," Friday said, officially annoyed, "that's it. You all have exactly five minutes to finish up, and then I'm going to start turning you into boys. And unless any of our visitors are gay, that will ruin your chances with any of them tonight."
She scowled at all of them.
Percy, Draco and Orion
"Hey cuz, bro," Percy said to Saku and Orion, as Orion shifted back into human.
"Glad you made it," Draco said. "We've just extracted a guarantee that not a single one of these lads shall lay a paw on our sister."
"Good," Orion said, "Not that Cass can't handle herself, but still. . . "
"The same goes for any female with with the last name Doyle, Granger, O'Callaghan or Bryce," Declan added.
********
"Brothers and cousins suck," Maggie said, looking out the window. "Look, they're scaring away all the possible suitors!"
"I think Friday is about to go into a berzerker rage if we don't hurry up," Armelle said. "Let's go." They girls all headed down to the party room.
Friday and Saku
"Okay," said Billy. "That rules out Cassie and every girl from the watcher school right?"
"I suppose in kind we might be expected to make similar rules about Gwyn," Eron replied. "But Gwyn is perfectly capable of looking after herself, and she doesn't need us for protection."
"Was that a mild rebuke?" Colin inquired.
Before anyone could reply, the gates opened.
"Could it be?" Billy asked. "The gates are opening!"
"Hooray!" Saku beamed.
And the boys trooped into the hall.
**********
Friday, pleased with herself, watched as the boys entered the hall.
"Okay, wow," she said. "It has been how many months since we last saw some cute boys?"
"Too long," Katrina grinned. "Oooh, check him out. Stud!"
"Don't drool," advised Kella. "You have to act cool and calm and otherwise in total control of the situation."
Meanwhile, as far away from Friday and her psycho power as possible, Tiffany was scoping out the boys.
The Vampire Kitties
Orion, Percy and Draco entered the dance hall and immediately pounced their sister.
"Cassie!" the three boys yelped in unison.
"Bros! ! !" They jumped up and down and squealed like teenies at their first Hanson show.
"Think they're happy to see each other?" Declan remarked.
"I'd say so," Katrina said.
"Wanna dance?" the future Watcher asked.
"Love to."
*******
"Are we supposed to wait for the boys to ask us to dance, or take the initiative ourselves?" Armelle asked Day.
Friday and Saku
Saku decided to prowl the hall, and checking out all the pretty girls. The slayers in paricular had very nice bodies - probably from all the working out they did.
Friday shrugged.
"Does it matter? Although some guys get freaked out about that kinda thing. Like we're stepping on their turf," Friday rolled her eyes. "But whatever. They know we're slayers, and they're just going to have to deal with us being up front."
"Oooh," Gaia said, watching Saku. "He's cute."
Tiffany looked at Saku, then back at Gaia.
"You go girl," she said.
Gaia looked up at Tiffany, chewed her bottom lip, and then started after Saku.
Meanwhile, Billy decided to make the first move and walked over to one of the slayer girls to ask her to dance. She accepted and they moved out onto the floor.
"Billy works fast," Tim grinned.
Eron grinned back.
"Gonna follow his example?"
"I think I'm gonna cruise a bit first."
"Yeah... let's say hi to those girls over there."
Vampire kitties
Gaia approached Saku with an air of self-confidence.
"Would you like to dance?" she asked.
The four vampire kitties danced, which was odd to see because they were in cat form at the time.
Saku
Saku looked Gaia up and down, and sniffed at her.
"Sure," he replied.
The party soon started to get into full swing as people started taking parters (or groups), and headed out to the dance floor.
Willow
Armelle was dancing with some boy when she sensed something wrong. She looked around and saw some of the other girls had the same look on their faces.
Suddenly the hall began to shake.
The girls instictively moved to sparring positions as the middle of the floor dropped out, and demons burst out from the floor.
Several people fell into the hole, and were immediately trampled on by the demons spewing out. Some were soon killed, and those who weren't were injured in some way, and went straight into hand-to-hand combat with said demons.
Willow hit numbers on a numberpad, and moments later the gym walls spun around to reveal a vast collection of weaponry.
Darcy, who had been sitting against the wall, dressed in black jeans and a black shirt (she hated wearing dresses) muttering about how she hated dances and why was she being exposed to this torment, blah, blah, blah, nearly fell back when the walls turned. Reacting instantly, Darcy took to her feet and started taking weapons down and tossing them to those nearby. A few others who had been near the walls also, started doing this too.
Friday
Friday had been dancing with a group of friends when the floor imploded. Not being close enough to the walls to grab weapons just yet, the girls fell into hand to hand combat.
Friday found herself confronted with a vampire. She feinted to the side, went the other way and hit the floor. The vampire smirked as it lunged. Friday used her atom manipulation on the gym floor and took some of it to use as a stake - which then then struck the vampire with just moments before he struck.
Friday took a moment to catch her breath, then went after the next demon.
Tiffany had fallen into the hole. Her arm was broken and she was shrieking at the top of her voice as she discovered the terrible truth - all her fingernails on one hand had been broken. Tiffany moved into an almost beserker rage. She would make these demons pay for their mistreatment of her beautiful person.
Billy also moved into battle mode. He and the slayer he had been dancing with now stood back to back, fighting together, but edging towards where they could pick up weapons.
First opportunity he got, Eron pulled out the dagger from his boot. Ever since he had gotten this special weapon imbued with Demon Strike, he always took it with him, even though he didn't really get to use it that often. Ahh, but tonight...
His Knight training kicked in, and Eron drove straight into combat with the demons alongside the others. The dagger was remarkably effective in cutting down demons.
Gwyn, Draco and Cassie
Gywn shot water out of one hand while blessing it with the other. Then she just rotated herself on the spot, spraying demons with the holy water. It fizzled and burned them, and they screamed demonic screams. The stench of boiling demon flesh filled the gymnasium.
Draco jumped ad hid under a table from the stream of holy water, since it caused him to break out in a most painful rash. Cassie changed halfway, having nice long claws to scratch the nasty demons with, and biting as hard as she could.
Friday
Friday leapt upon a horned demon who had felt the need to attack her from behind. Her mind raced as she wrestled with the monster, trying to remember if they had covered this one in class yet and what had been said about it. The demon flung her off easily and it was when she hit the floor that she remembered.
"Ah, ha," she said to herself. "The neck..."
The demon rushed towards her, as if to gorge her with its horns just as Eron approached, taking down another demon on the way. Friday grabbed hold of two of its horns as the distance closed and twisted with all her might, just as Eron stabbed his dagger into its flank. There was a sickening crack, and the demon dissolved into slime.
"I knew slayers were strong," Eron said, "I didn't realise that they were strong enough to break the neck of a Calflaughts demon with their bare hands though."
Friday grinned as he helped her back to her feet.
"I'm special," she replied. "I got a double portion of slayer powers."
"Oh really?" Eron inquired, not even pausing before taking his dagger to an approaching demon.
"Yeah. Because I'm half human, half Dathrian. At first everyone thought it was because I had Dathrian blood, but apparently its the whole hybrid species thing instead. I think because we met some alien vampires who, powers aside, weren't actually stronger than human ones, but the hybrid vamps were," Friday explained, all the while doing her share of the fighting.
"Ahh I see."
Vampire Kittes
Orion, Draco, Percy and Cassie connected mentally, in a sort of psychic circle. They conjured a portal and forced several of the demons into a demon dimension.
Armelle would never have admitted it, but she was terrified. The last time the school was attacked she was shot and nearly killed. Now she had been stabbed in the shoulder, and was nearly frozen in panic.
Salena
Salena noticed her friend standing still in shock, and also spotted that the offender was coming around to finish the job. Barely thinking about it, Salena pulled down a throwing star from the weapons hold and threw it with expert skill at the offending demon. Salena had taken to ranged weapons and kick boxing in an effort to protect her hands, given her prefered and original career as a violinist.
The star sliced across the demons' neck. Salena threw a couple more stars, hitting their target perfectly.
Willow
It seemed that the demons were mostly controlled. Willow waved her hand and transported the remainders to a safe place.
"Girls, sound off, bring the injured to the hall and we'll take them to the infirmary."
Friday
Friday looked around and chuckled.
"What?" Eron asked.
Friday walked two steps over, knelt down and replaced the impromtu stake she had made into the floor.
"I've barely moved from where I started," she said.
Eron chuckled.
