Liz's transformation was complete. The only part of her that remained human was her memories, the rest of her was 100% Semerellian.
It was strange. She could now, like other Sems, get away with only two hours of sleep at night, and had been forced to lay off the alcohol (not that she drank much in the first place). And yet, aside from these changes and her new powers, Liz didn't really notice too much of a change from species to species. Sometimes she would look at herself in the mirror and still find it hard to believe that she was no longer human.
"Happy anniversary darling," Max said greeting her with flowers and a present.
"Oh!" Liz exclaimed. "They're beautiful. Thank you."
Max kissed her.
"You're welcome."
Liz opened up the gift to uncover a DVD she had wanted.
"Thank you!" she exclaimed. "Oh, I have a gift for you too. And a surprise."
"A gift and a surprise?" Max repeated. "I am the lucky one, aren't I?"
Liz chuckled. She retried the present from the top drawer in her bed side table and gave it to him.
"Great minds, eh?" Max chuckled, when he opened his present to find a DVD he had been interested in.
"Yes," Liz giggled.
"So... what's my surprise?"
"Well," Liz began. "Roughy about July next year, the Semerellian people are going to have a new Prince or Princess."
Max stared at her.
"You're pregnant?"
"Uh huh."
"But... but I thought..."
"I've been a complete Sem for months now."
"Yeah but..."
"And we have been getting a little enthusiastic... and possibly careless..."
"Yes but...." Max gaped at her. "Oh my goodness."
Liz giggled.
"You sure that everything's okay?"
"Everything's fine. I'm fine. The baby's fine. Well, I'm not even that far along, so it's a little early to tell, but the microkinetic said that there shouldn't be any problems as far as DNA is concerned."
Max looked at her in amazement, then kissed Liz thoroughly.
"I'm guessing... this means... you're happy?"
"It's the... best news... all year."
