"Hey," Avery's voice sounded inside JD's head. "What are you doing here?"
JD smiled slightly as the door opened. "So, really, no chance of surprising you then?"
Avery laughed and then reached out to him. "Not really."
JD complied and pulled her into his arms, kissing her on the top of the head. "Hey beautiful."
"Hey yourself."
"How are you feeling, bub?" he asked, closing the door behind them as they moved inside Avery's room.
"Well, the morning sickness hasn't been too bad, as you know, so yeah, feeling alright," she replied. "Bit nervous about this ultrasound though."
JD smiled. "I'm sure it'll all be fine. And besides, that's why I'm here."
They settled down on Avery's bed, curling up against each other.
"So, how long until I lose you to Med school?"
"Not until next year," he told her. "But I think I will do my internship in the States. Turk's thinking of it too."
"Oh awesome," Avery replied, leaning back against him. Her eyes closed sleepily. "I'll be going to college downside, so I'll apply for whatever is closest to you..."
JD slid his arms around her waist, one hand entwined with hers over her heart. He kissed her cheek softly. "Sleep baby, we have time to plan later."
"Mmmkay..."
