Bobby looked across the table at Gabriella, who was twisting hair around her fingers absently.
"I don't want to rush into anything," she said suddenly. "I mean, you've just broken up with Julie, and you're not even divorced or anything, so like - "
"Yeah, I know," Bobby interrupted. "And I don't want to jump into another relationship, I'm not ready, and I'm not sure what's going on, you know?"
Gabriella nodded. "I don't want this either, it's too soon, I know."
He reached out and touched her cheek. "So we're friends."
"Yes," she agreed. "Friends."
"That like each other." He let out a laugh. "So it's complicated, but we'll work through it."
"I don't want to come in between a possible reconciliation with Julie, I just want you to be happy."
Bobby nodded. "I know. And right now, I can't say getting back together with Julie isn't on the cards. But I also can't say it is. It's too soon to make a judgement on that, I think."
Gabriella fell silent and Bobby sighed.
"I want you to be happy too, you know."
She smiled. "I know."
