Geri and Zeke

Zeke sat down at the table next to Geri.

"So, what did you want to talk to me about?" he asked.

Geri chewed her lip. Zeke had arrived at Xavier's prompted by a reoccuring dream about three months ago. In that three months Geri had become rather taken with his easy charm and the two had hit it off rather well.

Too well.

"I... I don't know how ot say this but...."

"But?"

"I'm pregnant," she said, the words coming out as a whisper.

Zeke stared at her.

"Okay."

"Okay? That's alll you have to say? Okay?"

"Well, what else should I say?"

"I don't know. I expected a bit more of a reaction. Dread. Excitement. Something."

"Okay, well, admittedly I have no idea if I'm prepared to be a Dad, but there is a fantastic support structure here, so whether or not we decide we want to be parents or not, our baby would still be here. This is an awesome place for a mutant child to grow up."

"We?" Geri eyed him with suspision. "You're awlfully calm about this."

Zeke paused for a moment.

"Okay, I admit it," he grinned. "I was so curious as to what this was about I peeked. I've had time to think about this."

Geri gave a long suffering sigh.

"Zeke..."

"Yes?"

"Can no one ever surprise you?"

"Of course people can surprise me. Just don't make me curious 24 hours before the incident."

Geri smiled.

"So, you're okay with this?"

"Nope, I'm not. I'm freaked out. I was not prepared to be a father at sixteen, and I bet you're not prepared to be a mother either."

"No. But as you said, this is the best place for a mutant baby to grow up, so unless I abort it..."

"Did you want to?"

Geri chewed her lip, considering.

"No," she said finally. "My family doesn't want anything to do with me. I think I'd like to start my own."

Zeke smiled.

"Same."
