Meeting his nephew

Written by Michelle and Nessa

Natalie

Natalie was on the lounge, feeding her newborn baby. She looked down at Ezra adoringly.

"How's he doing?" asked Mrs Bryant.

"He's good. Hungry little thing."

Mrs Bryant chuckled. There was a knock on the door at that point, and she got up to answer it.

Matt

"Hey Mom," Matt greeted when the door was opened.

He leaned over and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"Thought I'd come pay a visit to my new nephew... oh, and the rest of you, I guess," he joked.

Mrs Bryant

Mrs Bryant laughed good-naturedly.

"It's good to see you," she said. "Natalie and Ezra are in the lounge room."

Matt

"Where's my new favourite family member?" Matt said, coming through into the living room.

He spotted Natalie.

"Ah, there he is, my little favourite. Oh, hi Nat."

Natalie

"Hi Matt," Natalie smiled tolerantly at him.

Ezra finished eating and Natalie covered herself u before lifting up Erza in Matt's direction.

"Ezra, this is your Uncle Matt. He's a dork."

She grinned, and then put Ezra against her shoulder to burp him.

Matt

Matt tactfully looked away when she stopped feeding Ezra.

"Not a dork, awesome pro-footballer. Well almost."

He sat down across from them.

"Sorry I couldn't be here sooner, school has been crazy."

Natalie

Natalie smiled.

"That's okay," she replied.

Ezra burped and Natalie shifted him back to her arm while she cleaned up the little burp mess.

"Wanna hold him?" she asked.

Matt

"Can I?"

Matt stepped forward to take Ezra.

Natalie

"Sure."

Natalie carefully lifted Ezra up and moved him over to Matt's arms.

"Make sure you support his head," she warned.

Matt

"I know," Matt said softly.

He gently held Ezra and grinned down at him.

"Oh, he's all Taylor, that's where the good lookc come from," he joked.

Natalie

"Well, I should hope so," Natalie nodded. "If he took after me he'd be a pretty boy."

Too late Natalie realised she left herself open to a crashing blow from her brother.

Matt

Matt tried to hold it in and then decided he couldn't.

"Well, now Ezra just makes a very pretty girl."

Natalie

Natalie poked her tongue out at him.

"Not a girl," she objected.

Matt

"It does beg the question how you got pregnant while dating Taylor..."

Matt grinned.

Natalie

Natalie gave Matt a Look, which shifted into a falsely sweet expression.

"You mean you don't know?" she asked brightly. "I can't believe Dad never told you..."

Matt

"Ew, you did it with Dad?"

Matt feigned horror.

"That is gross. I am ashamed of you."

Natalie

Natalie pulled a face.

"You're foul," she accused him. "I can't believe we're related."

Matt

Matt chuckled and sat down, carefully cradling Ezra.

"How've you been, little sis?"

Natalie

"I've been good. Tired, but good. Ezra's a lot of work," Natalie replied. "But I get help. Just wasn't expecting to have him two months early."

Matt

"No, I know, I had organised to have time off in two months," Matt said, smiling.

"I'm sure Mom and Dad are excited to be grandparents already."

Natalie

"Yeah, they are," Natalie smiled.

She sighed.

"Taylor's tour doesn't finish until December. They planned to be finished before Ezra was born... Guess Ezra had other ideas."

Matt

"He's a real Bryant, he's impatient."

Matt grinned.

"I like that."

Natalie

Natalie giggled.

"You would," she joked. "So, what have you been up to lately?"

Matt

"School, school, football, school, football."

Matt shook his head slightly.

"So much school!"

Natalie

"Well, as long as, y'know, you're learning something," Natalie grinned. "By the way"

And she gave her brother a nudge (gently, because he was holding her son after all).

"Have you got yourself another girlfriend yet?"

Matt

"There's a couple of girls at school I've been seeing casually, but no, no girlfriend right now."

Matt eyed his sister.

"Ok, and no. Don't even start with that look."

Natalie

"Aww, but you holding Ezra makes such a nice picture," Natalie teased him. "You know you want to be a father yourself one day."

She grinned at Matt.
