Sprung!

Written by Michelle

Saku, Amber and Trina

Saku stepped through the Watcher Academy gates shaking his head, but smiling as his eyes fell on his two friends from Tulsa: Amber and Trina. Amber and Trina were both grinning at him like idiots.

"Okay," Saku said. "I'll bite. How'd you track me down?"'

"Umm, you told me what school you were going to?" Trina replied smugly.

Saku paused.

"Oh yeah, I did too. But..."

"And we got here via the amps," Trina went on. "Very cool those things, by the way. We may not have worried except that Amber was really curious about why they have an amp in Cleveland. An amp in Tulsa - yeah, there's a huge alien pop there, but we didn't think there was here."

Saku raised his eyebrows.

"And I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that you know about YIRAAS?"

"Given that I'm a dath, no," Amber put in. "So how come you're attending the 'Watcher Academy'?"

"Magic class," Saku replied.

"You can do magic?" Trina asked, her face lit up and her red eyes seems to glow.

"I'm best at fire magic, but I'm reasonably good at protection magic too."

"Fire magic? Awesome!" Trina replied, who had her own firey mutation.

"I'm also hydrokinetic, but that's my dath power."

"You're a dath too?" Amber asked, surprised.

"Uh huh. Half dath and half cat."

The girls stared at him.

"Cat?"

"Cat."

"How can you be a cat?"

"Ever heard of werewolves?"

"You're a werecat?"

"No, I'm a cat-dathrian," Saku grinned at them. "Cat is my primary form."

"Wait so... one of your parents is a dath and the other one is a cat?"

"She was a cat-human," Saku nodded. "Her name was Nyx."

"Was?"

"She's disappeared," Saku admitted sadly. "You remember the blood rain we had a year or so back?"

"Ugh, yeah," Trina said, turning up her nose.

"Ma... that was Ma."

"Wow. That sucks."

"Yeah. Anyway, her Ma was Bastet, the Egyptian cat goddess."

"All of a sudden it make so much sense. So wait, what does mean you're an immortal or something too?"

"Godling. I don't know that I'm immortal, but I do expect to live a long life," Saku nodded.

"Cool."

"Nope, this is cool," Saku said, putting each arm over their shoulders. "You know. I know. Is there anything else that we need to know? Oh, Amber, what's your power?"

Amber stifened.

"Atom manipulation," Trina said for her, giggling.

"No kidding. What's your specialty. Amby?"

"Don't call me that," Amber replied, then sighed. "I don't have one."

"Oh. Hybrid?"

"No. Full blood."

"Then... why don't you have a specialty?"

"I don't know. I just don't."

"Huh. Weird. No matter! So, what do you gals want to do today?"

And the three enjoyed the day together.
