Hope for answered questions

Tru and Liam

Tru was in the bookstore down the road from Wolfram and Hart, searching out the text that Wesley had sent her to find. She knew it had been a bad idea to leave her room.

She walked through to the history section and ran her fingers over the spines of the books, stopping briefly and picking out a Medieval History text. She flipped through it and her lip curled up in slight disgust, before she slipped it back on the shelf and continued to look for the text.

"I take it you don't like Medieval History," a deep voice said.

Tru jumped, slightly startled, then looked up. Standing beside her was a tall young man with wavy golden brown hair and sparkling green eyes. "How can you tell?"

"Oh, I don't know," he said, the corners of his mouth turning up in a smile. "I think maybe it was the look of horror on your face."

Tru grinned. "Well, unfortunately, I am stuck taking it with a new tutor. I lobbied to learn about the History of Film, but to no avail."

"Why would you want to take a course for something that you can rent at your local video store?" he asked, but his eyes were twinkling cheekily.

"What's wrong with taking a class in something you're interested in? I already have to study enough boring things, so I might as well have some fun," Tru argued back playfully.

"Fun is a state of mind," he replied, smirking. "With the right approach, any subject can be interesting."

"I doubt that," Tru countered.

"It's true," he insisted. "Take Medieval History, for example. It happens to be one of my favourite subjects and I'm certain, with the right approach, you would find it interesting. In fact, if you give me one minute, I bet I can make you interested enough to not dread your first lesson."

"Right, this should be interesting... you have one minute, starting... now."

He started immediately, his voice calm and easy, as if he had practised this speech millions of times before, outlining the codes of the knights, the courtly love, the scandal, the fighting, everything. "Am I out of time?"

"Actually, I think you went over by thirty seconds, but..." Tru took a deep breath. "Maybe you interested me a little."

"I bet you'll love it once you've had your first lesson," he said to her. "By the way, my name is Liam."

"Tru," she replied, shaking his hand. She checked her watch. "I should go, but... maybe I'll run into you again."

"Maybe you will," Liam told her, his eyes crinkling as he gave her a warm smile. "I hope you enjoy your history lesson."

"I might," Tru said, smiling back. "Lovely to meet you."

And with that, she left to continue the search for her book.
