Catching the pegasus

Airlia

Airlia threw the blanket off her legs and sighed, kicking her legs in frustration. Wesley had apparently taken this "do not let Airlia go anywhere without a bodyguard" thing as a quest, and so for the last 24 hours, she felt like she'd been in lockdown. And yet, no one had explained what they were so worried about. Wesley wanted to wait until Angel and her mom were back so he could explain it to everyone.

She knew she still had someone outside of her door, but she also knew there was a passageway in this room that led to the roof. And she was safe enough at Wolfram and Hart... they had everything monitored. Besides, she really needed some fresh air.

She got out of bed quietly and slipped into a pair of jeans and a singlet, and after a moment, grabbed a hoodie and slipped that on too. She slid into her flip flops and then silently walked through the bathroom and into the shower. Pushing gently on the tile with the pink flower on it, the passage door opened and she walked through it.

Once she was on the roof, she let out a sigh of relief, breathing deeply through her nose.

"I know you," came a voice.

Airlia jumped and turned around, fists raised and inwardly cursing herself for not bringing a weapon. Worst case, she shifted and flew off.

"And who am I?" she replied, voice steady.

"Faith's daughter," the voice replied.

She squinted in the dark and frowned. She couldn't see anyone.

"Yeah - "

"Hey, you want to escape here? I've been watching them keep you in control."

"N...no, I'm ok." Airlia started to back up, searching for the door handle behind her.

"Hey, don't be like that, I'm just trying to help."

"Thanks, but no... I should go back. They'll be looking," her voice wavered slightly.

"Wait..."

There was a bright golden light and Airlia felt something go through her. She couldn't focus on anything else, she knew she was walking towards the golden light - and the voice - but she couldn't stop. She wanted it.

Shift, shift... it belongs to you, they've been hiding it from you... this is your destiny...

Airlia obediently shifted, and in ten seconds, a graceful silvery threaded pegasus stood in her place, bowing her head so that it could be placed over her.

Her bridle.
