Zac was up, unable to sleep. He held little Elektra in his arms, who had been rather miserable lately. He and Ella were both concerned that she was coming down with something, but she didn't have a temperature or anything so... Comforting her seemed to be the only thing that worked.
Zac looked at the clock and yawned. It was just past midnight here so that would make it... 5ish in the afternoon in Tulsa?
He reached over and picked up the phone, dialing a familar number.
Kate
Kate checked the caller id box on her phone and saw Zac's mobile number pop up.
"Hello Zac," she greeted cheerfully. "How's touring?"
Zac
Zac yawned.
"Oh, good, good," he replied. "Lots of touring funness and stuff. We keep bumping into people we know in this hotel though. Ike bumped into his former ex-girlfriend and I bumped into Faith. They're both staying here. How weird is that?"
Kate
"Very weird," Kate replied "Almost as the strings of your lives were being pulled by some weird omnipotent force to be used as some bizarre plot device. But nevermind that. I've been thinking weird things lately. How're the kids?"
Zac
"They're good. Mostly," Zac replied. "Elektra hasn't been happy last couple of days though, but she doesn't have a fever or anything so, yeah, I dunno. I think she just wants company."
Kate
"Poor thing," Kate commiserated. "Other than that, are you enjoying yourselves? How's Faith?"
Zac
"Yeah, it's been good being out on tour again, although I think I'll be happier when its a proper concert tour," Zac replied. "Faith's good. She's doing a little touring of her own, of the training variety."
Kate
"Interesting," Kate said. "Well, I hope she's enjoying herself." Kate didn't have any problem with Faith. She knew Zac loved Faith, but she also knew that they had had a lot of problems, and there was that whole bittersweet thing, going on, where they just didn't work out. Kate didn't want Zac to get hurt again.
"So, any particular reason for calling? Or were you just looking for someone to talk to? 'cause either way, I'm glad you called."
Zac
"I just wanted someone to talk to. I'm so tired but I can't sleep because of Elektra, and I'm probably going to hit the coffee in the morning, which will drive Ike and Tay nuts because I'll have way too many cups of really, really strong coffee," Zac babbled.
Kate
"Ahh, I see. Well, if you need it, I can sing you a lullaby," Kate teased gently. "So, have you been seeing lots of good sights on tour? Lots of museums? Art Galleries? Half-naked groupies sneaking into your hotel rooms?"
Zac
Zac chuckled evilly.
"No me, but Ike's had three or four - personal - fans of his follow us around all tour. They have been known to try to talk him into signing their bras. While they're still wearing them."
Kate
"Oh, poor Ikerz. That must be so embarassing!" Kate said. "Touring must be different now, with the kids. I hope you're having a blast, though."
Zac
"Yeah, we are," Zac replied. "It's great to finally be on the road again. Although I'm sure the different time zones must be really throwing the kids off. The amount of coffee I've been drinking lately..."
Kate
"Be careful, coffee is helpfull, but I don't want to turn on my computer to read 'Young rockstar has heart-attack from too much coffee'," Kate warned with a laugh.
Zac
Zac chuckled.
"One of our entourage is a healer. I'll be fine," he replied.
