Liam settled down in his chair, a History text on his lap, and a cup of tea on the table next to him. He flipped through the pages, smiling slightly as he reread through his favourite chapters.
It had been a good run so far, in Maine. He'd been here for nearly 3 months, and no incidents. Maybe she hadn't found him this time. Or maybe she'd given up.
He could only hope.
Liam took a sip of his tea and leaned back against his chair. His eyes drooped and before long, he had drifted off to sleep.
Liam
Liam woke with a start, heart pounding and sweat pouring off his forehead. He checked his watch.
11pm.
He'd been dozing for two hours or so, and as he rubbed his shoulders, he felt the hair on the back of his neck stand up. He sniffed the air deeply, the overwhelming smell of roses scenting the room.
She'd found him again.
Forcing himself to remain calm, Liam stood and walked down the hallway to his bedroom, the scent getting stronger as he continued.
"Hello? Is anybody here?"
The sound of the door slamming shut and a car starting shook him out of his reverie and he ran out the front door, watching as the black Mazda sped away.
"Oh God, she's found me."
Liam ran back inside and bolted his door, before frantically running into his bedroom to begin packing.
It was time to move on again.
