Roberto applauded for Elata as she finished her routine on the floor. He had been talked into coming to her gymnastics meet and found himself enjoying "gymspastics" more than he thought he would.
Somehow Elata, and her small, lithe body, seemed at home in this sport.
Elata chewed her lip as she waited for the judges score, and beamed when it was higher than she thought it would be. She had messed up a bit, but hey, looks like it wasn't enough to damage her score too badly.
Soon the meet was over - Elata's team beat their competitiors, but there was only a few points in it. Elata met up with her family and Roberto soon thereafter.
"You were wonderful," said her mother, giving her a hug.
"Thanks. Soooo... Berty," Elata said, turning to Roberto. "Whatcha think?"
"I was enjoying the day right until you called me 'Berty'," he responsed.
Elata giggled.
"Hey," she said cheerfully, "we need more male gymnants! Wanna join?"
"Uh, just because I go to your gym meet does not mean I want to join."
"Aww," Elata batted her eyes at him.
"Geena, don't pick on him," her father said. "Roberto doesn't have to if he doesn't want to."
Elata pouted at her father.
"I'm Elata," she insisted.
"That's not what it says on your birth certificate," he replied.
Roberto couldn't help but grin.
