Friday and Julie

Byte Me:

Julie!!!

AngelicOne:

Day!!!

AngelicOne:

hehe

Byte Me:

How’s it going?

AngelicOne:

Good

AngelicOne:

Just got all the kids to sleep

Byte Me:

Is that novel? All 6 of them asleep at the same time?

AngelicOne:

Feels like it

Byte Me:

hehe

AngelicOne:

How’s school?

Byte Me:

Eh school

Byte Me:

Turned Tiff into a boy again, mwahaha

AngelicOne:

Lol, she’s the dtiz you were telling me about?

Byte Me:

Yeah

AngelicOne:

Get in trouble again?

Byte Me:

Didn’t get caught

AngelicOne:

Best way

Byte Me:

I think so too

Byte Me:

And your game?

AngelicOne:

I’m working on a new class for it

Byte Me:

Yeah?

AngelicOne:

Paladins

Byte Me:

No way, really?

AngelicOne:

Yep

Byte Me:

That’s so cool – a Paladin school is moving nearby

AngelicOne:

OMG really???

AngelicOne:

They’re real?

Byte Me:

Yep

Byte Me:

Haven’t met any myself yet

Byte Me:

There’s like this whole order and they have blacksmiths and clerics too

Byte Me:

But all the pallies are male

Byte Me:

Everyone else it doesn’t matter

AngelicOne:

Cool

AngelicOne:

Clerics huh?

Byte Me:

Yeah

AngelicOne:

I was thinking of introducing a healer class, priest or cleric or something

AngelicOne:

Do you know much about them?

Byte Me:

Hmm, not really

Byte Me:

I know more about the clerics because one of them turned out to be a slayer

Byte Me:

Pallies and slayers are akin – both are called

Byte Me:

But clerics is a voluntary profession, hehe

AngelicOne:

Cool

AngelicOne:

So what can they do?

Byte Me:

You going to give me the third degree and steal real life stuff for your game?

AngelicOne:

Yes

AngelicOne:

Why not?

AngelicOne:

hehe

Byte Me:

hehe

Byte Me:

Well Gwyn – the cleric/slayer – she’s got some Bless power

Byte Me:

(she’s also a hydrokinetic mutant)

Byte Me:

So she can create her own Holy Water on the spot

AngelicOne:

Oh! A mutant too?

AngelicOne:

Wow, talk about cross-classing

Byte Me:

lol

AngelicOne:

Hehe

AngelicOne:

Sometimes it feels like I don’t look at the world normally anymore

AngelicOne:

Like it’s just some big real life MMORPG

Byte Me:

forgive my ignorance… MMORPG?

AngelicOne:

Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game

Byte Me:

Ohhhhh cool

AngelicOne:

Like Everquest or World of Warcraft

Byte Me:

Okay neat

Byte Me:

I didn’t know they had a name for that

AngelicOne:

Heh, whatever happened to the internet junkie I used to know?

Byte Me:

She got caught up in weird things like vampire slaying

AngelicOne:

Hehe

AngelicOne:

Maybe I should introduce a new class ‘slayer’

AngelicOne:

I was thinking assassin, though…

Byte Me:

hehe

AngelicOne:

Although I was also thinking about barbarians, but how would assassins/slayers and barbarians differ from fighters?

Byte Me:

Welllllll… fighters are like the classic melee fighting class

AngelicOne:

Yeah

Byte Me:

and assassins would be a bit more akin to thieves, so like a thief/fighter hybrid

Byte Me:

and slayers would have a fighting against demon bonus

AngelicOne:

Pallies have that

Byte Me:

and barbarians would have more, I dunno… I’m a psycho killer thing going

AngelicOne:

lol

Byte Me:

Oh ok

Byte Me:

well, yeah I dunno

AngelicOne:

I don’t want to go overboard in the classes either

Byte Me:

True

AngelicOne:

Or in the races

AngelicOne:

Although I admit I’m planning pixies and orcs and stuff :D

Byte Me:

hehe

Byte Me:

I know a pixie!

Byte Me:

She’s the school secretary

AngelicOne:

oh man

AngelicOne:

Dude are there no made up creatures any more?

AngelicOne:

This is not helping my ‘the real world is just another MMORPG complex’

Byte Me:

lol

AngelicOne:

Maybe I should introduce aliens

AngelicOne:

actually no, I have no idea how I would replicate Dath abilities

Byte Me:

Yeah! And mutants too!

AngelicOne:

Plus I think the YIRAAS would have a few things to say about that

Byte Me:

aww

AngelicOne:

Hmm… not sure how I’d do mutants

AngelicOne:

Their powers are pretty broad too, even if they don’t have atom manipulation

Byte Me:

Why not make it like, an optional kit, or a quest or something

Byte Me:

Like any race can be a mutant

AngelicOne:

Well… I wouldn’t want a game full of mutants

AngelicOne:

And mutants do have special abilities…

AngelicOne:

If I gave out a fire mutation for example, that added bonus fire damage and defence, why would you go with an ordinary human or elf or whatever?

Byte Me:

Good point

Byte Me:

Well, why not give disadvantages as well?

Byte Me:

So your fire mutant is more vulnerable to ice?

AngelicOne:

Hmm… maybe… I’ll think about it

Byte Me:

Telepathy would be a little redundant unless you wanted to do psionic damage

Byte Me:

Don’t know what a disadvantage of that would be

Byte Me:

Telekinesis could be an extra damage bonus and the ability to loot from a distance

Byte Me:

Don’t know what a disadvantage for that would be either

AngelicOne:

hehe

AngelicOne:

You’re getting into this huh?

Byte Me:

Yep

AngelicOne:

Well, YOUR imput I value, so if you come up with any more ideas lemme know

Byte Me:

Aww, I’m touched

Byte Me:

So who’s ideas don’t you like getting?

AngelicOne:

There are some players out there who do nothing but complain and whine

Byte Me:

Go tell them to find another game to play

AngelicOne:

I have

Byte Me:

hehe

AngelicOne:

But that’s probably not good for business

Byte Me:

bah!

Byte Me:

what’s more important? Business or your sanity

AngelicOne:

Good point

AngelicOne:

hehe

Byte Me:

hehe

AngelicOne:

That was something else I was thinking though… guilds

Byte Me:

Guilds?

AngelicOne:

Yeah

Byte Me:

aren’t they just collections of friends/comrads in arms?

AngelicOne:

lol, something like that yeah

Byte Me:

Well, you have those already, don’t you?

AngelicOne:

yeah, but I was thinking of expanding on the idea

Byte Me:

do tell

AngelicOne:

Okay well, what if the guilds could accomplish stuff

AngelicOne:

Guild-specific stuff

AngelicOne:

Like they could have their own guildhall

Byte Me:

Cool

Byte Me:

but what able newbie guilds? Y’know the kinds that barely get started and then fall of the radar

AngelicOne:

Well, okay, maybe you can’t get a guildhall straight away

AngelicOne:

Like you have to fulfill certain criteria or quests or whatever

Byte Me:

Like number of members?

Byte Me:

or active members?

AngelicOne:

I hesitate to do something like that

AngelicOne:

Cos some guilds can be very tight-knit, and it’s the bonds between the members which are important – not the number

Byte Me:

True

AngelicOne:

But they could get like, special rewards in their guildhalls

AngelicOne:

And when they go up a level they could get extensions and new rooms

AngelicOne:

Like food shops and bars and stuff like that

Byte Me:

hmm

Byte Me:

sounds interesting

AngelicOne:

yeah

AngelicOne:

I don’t know how well it’ll work tho

AngelicOne:

I’ll have to put more thought into it

AngelicOne:

and right now I should be thinking about pallies

Byte Me:

hehe

Byte Me:

If I get to meet one any time soon, I’ll tell you all about it

AngelicOne:

Cool

Byte Me:

They’re still working on the buildings

Byte Me:

The church is done though

Byte Me:

but I suppose that’s kinda the focus point of a lot of what they do, so yeah

Byte Me:

That would be why it’s done first

AngelicOne:

yeah

AngelicOne:

hmm, maybe that’s something the guildhalls can have – a chapel

Byte Me:

sure, why not

Byte Me:

what would be the point of it?

AngelicOne:

I haven’t gotten that far yet, lol

AngelicOne:

But I was planning on introducing churches with the pallies, so yeah

Byte Me:

ahh I see

Byte Me:

sounds like a plan

Byte Me:

Oh darn

AngelicOne:

what?

Byte Me:

I have to go – a slayers work is never done

AngelicOne:

heh okay

AngelicOne:

ttyl

Byte Me:

cya!

And so Friday signed off, and Julie went back to programming paladins for her online game.
