Fraternising in the Workplace

Written by Michelle and Joy

Madame Bella

Madame Bella sat in her office waiting for Isaiah and Carrie Anne to arrive. She had asked them both to a meeting of a personal nature. She wasn't really looking forward to it, but she did have a business to run, and she felt that she should get in first on certain matters.

Carrie Anne chewed her lip, waiting outside of Madame Bella's office for Isaiah to arrive. She wasn't sure that she wanted to go in there by herself - especially not when she recalled just when the meeting was called - while they were kissing in the lunch room.

Isaiah

Isaiah looked at his feet as he walked over to the Madame Bella's office.

"Oops?" was all he could say to his girlfriend.

Madame Bella

Carrie Anne giggled.

"I, I suppose we should go in," she said, and tentatively knocked on the door.

"Come in," rang Madame Bella's voice.

Carrie Anne took a deep breath.

Isaiah

Izzy gulped, and walked inside.

"Um, hello," he said nervously.

Madame Bella

"Please, have a seat," Madambe Bella replied.

Carrie Anne sat down.

"Don't worry, I'm not going to bite you," Madame Bella smiled. "But I did want to talk to you about... well... you two are dating now, aren't you?"

"For a couple of months now," Carrie Anne answered.

"Oh, really?" Madame Bella's face brightened at this. "Well, congratulations. That makes what I'm going to say a little easier. I don't have a problem with you dating of course. I just want you to be discrete. Obviously, if it's been awhile, you have been."

Isaiah

"IN other words," Izzy said, "No snogging in the workplace?"

Madame Bella

Madame Bella coughed.

"Well," she said. "I wouldn't put it quite as crassly as that, but yes. Or at least not in front of the customers. And don't go too crazy in front of the staff, either. I really don't mind you showing affection to each other, but as I said, some discresion."

Carrie Anne nodded.

"Also..." Madame Bella paused briefly before continuing, "I'm not saying that you will, but should you two ever, well, break up, I hope you two retain a professional relationship. I don't want some personal quarrel between you to interfer with your work."

"Oh, no, of course not," Carrie Anne replied.

Isaiah

"That sounds sensible to me," Isaiah said, "And are sorry," he said.

Madame Bella

Madame Bella nodded and stood.

"I appreciate that," she said. "Thank you for meeting with me."

Carrie Anne stood hurriedly.

"Oh, that's perfectly fine," she said.

"I'd also like to add, that I think you two have been doing a wonderful job here," Madame Bella went on.

"Thank you."

Isaiah

Isaiah stood as well.

"Thank you," he said with a smile.

And on that he and Carrie Anne left.
