Hanging out

Written by Joy and Michelle

Jessica and Rachel

Jess rolled the dice and took her turn. "Explain to me again why we;re playing Star Wars Monopoly?" she asked Rachel.

"Um, nothing better to do?"

"Oh yeah. Your turn." Rachel took her turn and landed on Jess's property.

"Meh. Here's your money. It's no fun, you always win." Jess grinned maniacly.

Zac

The door bell rang, and Diana went to answer it.

"Zac?" she asked in surprise.

"Hi mom," Zac said cheerfully. "Saku and I decided to come over and visit."

"Granny!" Saku exclaimed, reaching to Diana for a hug.

Diana smiled and gave Saku his hug.

"Come on in," she said.

Jessica and Rachel

"Tigger!" Jess exclaimed, glomping her older brother and tackling him to the ground. Rachel waved to Zac.

"Yo yo yo, say hi to your daughter," she said, guesturing to Annie who was bouncing around in her kiddy swing.

Zac

"Uhh, hi Jess," Zac said. "Would you like to get off me now?"

Saku giggled.

"Hi, hi, hi!" he said. "Whatcha doin'?"

Jessica

"Meh, I suppose," Jess said, getting. "We're playing Star Wars Monopoly, wanna play?"

"Annie, look, it's Daddy and Saku! Saku, do you wanna give Annie a kiss?"

Zac

Saku eyed Annie for a moment.

"Nope," he replied, then turned to Diana with wide eyes. "Granny, chicken? Pwease?"

Zac shook his head.

"Sure, I'll play," He said.

Rachel and Jessica

Rachel laughed. "Hopefully someday he'll love all his younger sibs. It takes time, though, right?"

"Zac didn't want anything to do with me until, what, about age 7?" Jessi tried to remember. They cleared off the board and started a new game.

Zac

"Well, let's face it Jess," Zac said, helping set up the new game. "You just weren't worth socialising with until then."

He gave her a wink.

Jessica and Rachel

"Maybe, but now you can't live without me," Jess said, pretending to swoon into Zac's lap.

"'Scuse me, gotta go vomit," Rachel said, getting up to run to the bathroom.

"Gotta love that first triemster, eh?" Jess joked towards Rachel's swiftly moving backside.

Zac

"Pregnant again?" Zac inquired curiously.

At least he knew the child wasn't his this time.

Rachel and Jessica

"Yeah," Jessi said, "To Clint Moffatt, as far as she knows. I think she's trying to see how many former brother-band pop idols she can shack up with," Jess said, winking evilly at Zac, as she grabbed a bag of mini-marshmallows off the coffee-table. She alternated eating them & throwing them at his head.

"Ooh, marsies!" Rach said, as she came back from the bathroom and grabbed her own bag, stuffing a handful into her mouth.

Zac

Zac opened his mouth and lifted his face to start catching the marshmellows.

"Ahh I see," Zac nodded between marshmellows. "Right, so should I send out the warnings to all the former brother-band pop idols now, or sit back, relax, and see how well Rach succeeds?"

He grinned broadly.

"And what about this game of Star Wars Monopoly?"

Jessica and Rachel

"I give up," Jessi said. "Let's watch a movie instead. Feel like watching DareDevil?" she suggested as Rach came back into the room.

"No way," Rach said, "You made me watch that movie 3 times last week. We could watch those Mutant X dvds we just got," Rachel countered.

Zac

Zac raised his eyebrows.

"Do you guys find it the least bit weird watching mutant shows when we know people who are mutants, and their situation is nothing like that?" Zac considered for a moment. "Although, I suppose the same is true of humans and soaps."

Jessica and Rachel

"I don't think it's weird," Rach said.

"Well, I do, but I like being weird," Jess admitted. "But the same thing could also be said about aliens watching Star Trek & Star Wars."

Zac

"Well, that's not really the same thing," Zac said. "Because mutants are always called mutants. But there are fine defining lines between real aliens and fictional ones. For one thing, real ones are called Daths, Sems and Adigei. Not Klingons, Trills and Ferengi. If there were real Klingons, and then the fiction, human interpretation of a Klingon, then it would be the same thing."

Rachel and Jessica

"You're a dork," Jessi said, dismissing him. "Let's watch Mutant X." She went over and set up the first dvd of the second season.

"We're starting with the beginning of season 2, do you need a refresher?" Rach asked Zac.

Zac

"A refresher?" Zac repeated. "Dude, I've never watched the show. I only know what I know about it from everyone else talking about it."

Jessica and Rachel

"Should we start with the first season then?" Rach asked.

"Why not," Jess replied, grabbing the other box. "We haven't watched it in a while." She put on the first episode of Mutant X, and ran to the kitchen to make some popcorn.

Zac

"Don't feel the need to indoctorate me into your warped fandom," Zac responded. "I doubt I'll ever watch this show again."

Nonetheless, he made himself comfortable as if he knew there was no way for him to argue his way out of the current viewing.

Jessica and Rachel

Jess settled in next to her brother and Rachel with a big bowl of popcorn as they sat to watch lots and lots of Mutant X.
