Silent musings

Written by Joy

Becky

Becky sat silently as she did her needlework. So many girls at the school were having children, getting married, going off and starting their own lives. And while she was ecstatic that she had found somebody she truly loved, part of her wondered what she was missing out on: Marriage, children, being a mom.

But at the same time, if she had gone back after her Rumspringa, and had chosen to be baptized and live with the Amish, what would she be giving up? High school, college, university, geting a job, meeting new people, falling in love. Rosalind.

No, she knew that deep down she made the right choice, but at the same time, she missed her family, and didn't know what she's do if Martha hadn't chosen to stay out with the English as well.

Well, maybe she would have children someday. Maybe she could be a mother, Roz was always telling her that anything is possible in this day and age, if you just know where to look. Suddenly, Becky didn't feel so sad. Maybe she didn't have to give up on some of her dreams to make others come true.
