"Okay, so I've been trying to decide on some names," Julie said. "I've pretty much decided to name them after TV shows. Both names, this time, because I have no idea what their powers are going to be. But I can't decide! Okay, Star Trek names for girls (and they will all have Star Trek names), Dax, Kira, Jadzia, Ezra, Ziyal and Seven. They have cool names. And for boys? Worf, Odo, Curzon, Q, Garak and Martok."
"You would name your son Q?" Shannon blinked.
"Yes. Maybe. I don't know. Maybe a middle name, that would be cool."
Ducky and Rachel
Ducky giggled. "I have no clue what I'm naming this baby. I don't know that if it's a boy, despite Warren's begging, he will Not be Warren Worthington IV. No way. I like Darla for a girl, though." Even though she was done with school, she loved to come and hang out at the mansion, since she was currently unemployed and had nothing better to do.
"I had the hardest time naming Annie," Rachel said. "Zac had to pick out her middle name. I've always liked Annie as a name, though. I don't know what I'll name any other kids I have."
Shannon and Julie
"I'm thinking of naming my daughter, Briar," Shannon admitted.
"That's pretty," Julie said. "Anyway, back to me. Othere TV show names I'm thinking of, for a girl, Max, Tinga, as in Dark Angel, and Shalimar, as in Mutant X. And for a boy... Well, I considered Zack from Dark Angel, but Zac might get the wrong idea. But there's still Joshua. And Alec. And I like Brennan from Mutant X too."
Ducky
Ducky laughed. "Well, I want to be careful. I mean, my parents named me Daphne, and people started calling me Daffy Duck. I've been thinking about Tolkein names. Like, for a girl I like Eowyn, and for a boy I like Faramir or Elrohir. Elladan is a good name as well."
Shannon and Julie
"I am thinking of an Elven middle name, but I do not know what," Shannon said.
"Why would you want an Elven name, when they shunned you?" Julie asked.
"Unlike some people, I cannot so easily throw away all ties to my past."
Ducky
"Well, I told Warren that we should name the baby--" Ducky proceeded to say something that sounded exactly like a robin chirping. "But he says it would be hard for other peopple to pronoiunce, and to spell."
Julie
"I have to agree with Warren," Julie nodded. "Plus, what's more, the baby will have to grow up hearing not only people make a mockery of his or her name in an attempt to pronounce it - or not bothering to even try - but they will also have to deal with birds calling their name all the time. And then where would you be?"
Ducky and Rachel
"Trues," Ducky said. "It's a very nice name though. Very eloquent. Although, it translates to 'pretty boy with shiny feathers.' I don't think I'd name my baby that either."
"Why not go onto babynames.com," Rachel suggested, "And look up close tranlations to the names you like by meaning. I love that site."
Julie and Shannon
"I'm sticking with my TV show names," Julie nodded.
Shannon made no attempt to hide her smile.
"Maybe I'll go with Brennan Q and Jesse Worf, if they're boys. And..."
"Where is Jesse from?"
"He's Mutant X too," Julie replied. "And if they're girls... maybe Shalimar Dax and Kira Max. Except I like Shalimar and Dax better... but I want them all to have Star Trek names and... well... argh. Maybe Dax Max and Shalimar Kira. Or Shalimar Erza. Or maybe Shalimar Seven."
She frowned, considering.
Rachel and Ducky
"If I was using TV show names," Rachel said, thinking "I'd go with Krit Duncan for a boy and Amanda Jondy for a girl. Or possibly Lucas Darwin for a boy."
"Where are those from?" Ducky asked.
"Lucas and Darwin are both from seaQuest DSV. Amanda and Duncan are from Highlander, and Krit and Jondy are from Dark Angel."
"I've thought about using Lord of the Rings names and Star Wars names. My two favourite movie series," Ducky said. "I like Padme Beru, or Lando Owen. And Mara Jade was really cool as well."
Julie and Shannon
"What other shows do I like? Julie mused. "Oooh, I could name them after computer game characters. Like Elsa, or Toro, or Rakeesh from Quest for Glory. Or -"
Shannon stared at Julie.
"What?" Julie asked. "Okay, okay, I know I'm weird. But you are talking to someone who seriously considering naming B'E or Tom 'TWAIN'. Which is a real technological word involving scanners, and stands for 'technology without an interesting name'. Actually, maybe I'll do that for these two. BWAIN and TWAIN - Baby without, and Twin without. Or maybe SWAIN, for son, or DWAIN for daughter. Although, DWAIN sounds like Duane, and that's a boys name."
Ducky and Rachel
"That's really cool," Rachel said, and Ducky agreed. Rachel shifted annie, opening her nursing bra so that Annie could suck. "I'f I have another one, which I don't plan on right away, I want to give him or her an interesting name."
"I like the name Mordred, but I don't want to name my child after the bastard son of a brother and sister. I like Galahad, though, or Gawain, but not Lancelot, because I don't want to encourage my child to commit adultery," Ducky said, grinning. "Elaine or Shalott would be good names for a girl, I think, or Morgana. Igraine was cool too, she was Arthur's mother. Oh, by the way, Rach, when do you and Jess go back to Tulsa?"
"End of the month."
Julie
"Plus, we already know a Mordred," Julie nodded. "Which has brought me to a conclusion: If you already know three people with the same name, it's a bad name to name your kid. And two is pushing it. Unless it's like, a namesake or something. Then it's cool."
Shannon smiled.
"Hey, if they're girls, maybe I should name one Julie. That would make her, Julie Rocks, the second," she giggled.
Jessica
"I think if you name your child Julie Rocks the Second, you might as well name her Julie Rocks the Second she Enters the Room," Jess said, plopping down next to Rach.
Julie
Julie stared at Jessica.
"You're weird," she declared.
Jessica
Jessi giggled, as she stuck her tongue out at Julie. Then she took a deep breath and when onto the dream plane. She came back and laughed.
"They're dreaming," she said, pointing to Julie's belly. "Yours too," she said to Shannon.
Julie and Shannon
Shannon smiled.
"Aww, that's so sweet. What are they dreaming about?" asked Julie.
Jessica and Rachel
"Most fetuses dream about the same," Jessi explained. "They don't exactly have complex thought processes down yet, so it's basically 'mommylovesafehappylovemommy.'" Jessi said, giggling. "It's so cute. I wish you could watch the way I do."
"What does Annie usually dream about?" Rachel asked.
"Well, she dreams about you, and about animals, but I warn you right now, maybe it's because of her power, but I think she might grow up to have quite a mean streak," Jessi said gently.
"Well, all I can do is shower her with love and hope she won't grow up to be vengeful," Rachel said with a sigh.
Julie
"Yeah..." Julie nodded. "Meanwhilst, I can just see Tom sneaking into the girls locker room when he's older."
She paused.
"And if B'E is anything like me, she'll probably sneak into the boys locker room."
Rachel
Rachel giggled. "I'm sure Annie's going to be the same way, if she takes after me at all," she said, grinning.
Julie
Julie grinned back and the girls continued chatting late into the night.
