Breezing In

Written by Nessa and Michelle

Bree

Bree Middleton hmmed to herself as she arrived at Xavier's Institute. She tucked a loose strand of her long wavy blonde hair behind her ear and then shrugged, sliding her bag over her shoulder and walking through to the lobby.

"Hmmmm, ok. Large."

Rogue

Rogue paused, seeing someone she didn't recongise in the lobby.

"Hello?" she asked, walking in. "Ah'm Rogue, and you?"

Kitty

Kitty walked through a series of walls into the foyer and spotted Rogue talking to a girl she's never seen before.

"Hey. I'm Kitty," she said, holding out her hand to the girl.

Bree

"Hi, I'm Bree," Bree said, shaking Rogue's hand and then Kitty's.

"I guess it's kinda obvious, but I'm new. I pretty much just arrived from Australia."

Rogue

"Oh wow," Rogue said. "Ah love your accent! What brings you to this neck of the woods?"

Bree

"Thanks, your accent's heaps cute," Bree said.

She pushed some hair from her eyes.

"Wanted to learn to control this bizarro power."

Kurt & Kanika

"Liebe, please give that back!" Kurt's desperate voice echoed down the hall.

"Mine!" Kanika said defiantly and kept running.

Kurt appeared in a swirl of smoke and a 'bamf' noise, blue arms outstretched to catch the child. She squealed and dived between his legs, batting his tail out of the way before rolling to her feet and running on.

"Mine!"

"Kinder! I need zhat!"

Bamf!

Bamf!

Bamf!

No matter what Kurt tried, the black smoke curling around in the air and the scent of brimstone accompanying his passage, he couldn't catch the agile blackhaired tiny girl. The resulting gymnastics and contortions on both sides must have been amusing for anyone on the outside to watch. Once they got over the shock of Kurt's demonic appearance.

"Mine, you fuzzy elf!"

"Bitte, liebeling, give it to Onkel Kurt! Verdamment!"

"Oooh, you said a bad word! I'm telling my Daddy!"

"Ach, nein!"

Kurt finally caught her and firmly removed his image inducer from her hand. She pouted at him.

"Kleines, you should not steal. Especially this from me. I need it, alright, Schatzchen?"

He looked up with wide yellow eyes, finally registering the prescence of a newcomer.

"Ach, guten tag, junge Fraulien."

"Fuzzzzzyyyyy, put me down!"

Bree

Bree smiled slightly.

"Hey, I'm Bree. Um, I think I'm meant to see Professor Xavier or something? Could someone show me there?"

Kurt & Kanika

"No screams? Ach, gutt. I am getting tired of people calling me a demon. Run along, kliene. Go play with your dolls, alright?"

Kurt put Kanika down on the ground and she ran off, giggling evilly.

"I vill take you if you wish, fraulien Bree. Mein name is Kurt Wagner, but whe I was with the circus I was known as ze Incredible Nightcrawler."

Bree

"I'm Bree Middleton. I'm pretty much just known as Bree. But no, no screams. I kinda grew up in an alien and mutant environment," Bree said.

She smiled.

"Thanks, by the way."

Kurt

"Most people scream when they saw me outside the circus. It was...disappointing," Kurt said after a moment of thought as he led her to Xavier's office.

"I pity them, that they cannot see God's hand in the world. Such pain. Such fear...such hate. It is sad."

Bree

"Tis life, I suppose. People hate what they don't understand."

Bree followed behind him.

Kurt

"Ja," Kurt said, glancing back at her.

"But God is wondrous, His plans impossible for us to comprehend. In everything, there is purpose. And there is always hope."

Bree

"I spose."

Bree shrugged.

"This place is quite large."

Kurt & Xavier

"There are a lot of us, fraulien," Kurt said.

"And our numbers grow all the time."

He paused at a door and lifted his hand to knock.

"Come in, Kurt. And bring in Bree as well..."

Kurt shrugged slightly and opened the door. Xavier put down his pen and steepled his fingers as he looked at Bree across his desk.

"Welcome to the Xavier Institute, Bree. Please, sit down. Thank you, Kurt, you can leave now."

With a cheery smile and fanged grin, Kurt disappeared in a cloud of smoke.

Bree

"Hi, I don't know how much my parents told you..."

Bree sat down and smiled pleasantly.

"They were a bit worried about me."

Xavier

"There is no need for either them nor you to be concerned," Xavier reassured her.

"You will be welcome to stay here as long as you wish..."

Bree

"Thank you," Bree said.

"We didn't have a whole lot of options in Australia... so this is a welcome relief."

Xavier

"The other question I must ask you is, when your capabilities are under control, will you consider joining the X-Men on a casual basis?" Xavier inquired.

"You do not have to say yes."

Bree

Bree paused.

"Could I give that some thought? I don't think I can make that decision right now."

Xavier

"But of course," Xavier said.

"It is a rather important decision, and not one to be rushed into lightly. I would be somewhat surprised if you did simply agree with no forethought. You strike me as a very intelligent young lady."

Bree

"Thanks, but I'm more just... hesitant to pick something and grow up, really," Bree said.

Xavier

Xavier smiled gently.

"Of course. But I would not think in the least that becoming an X- Man would require growing up...Kurt, the man who showed you in, has at least shown no signs of it."

Bree

"Oh, well that's good, I guess."

Bree smiled.

"So do I have a room, or..."

Xavier

"Of course."

Xavier sounded gently surprised.

"I'll just contact one of the teachers to show you to your room..."

"Ororo? Would you come to my office please? There's a new student who I think would benefit from your brand of wisdom..."

Storm and Bree

Storm came into the office, chuckling slightly.

"Wisdom..."

Bree stood up and looked at the new white haired arrival.

Xavier

"You are very wise, Ororo..." Xavier said, smiling slightly.

"Ororo, this is Bree. Bree, Miss Monroe, one of the teachers here at the school, and also one of my X-Men, where she has earned the codename Storm. Our resident weather goddess."

Bree and Storm

"Nice to meet you," Bree said, smiling slightly.

Storm smiled warmly.

"Nice to meet you too. I'll show her to her room then. Oh and Professor, I do believe Bobby is downstairs trying to corrupt the good doctor into another twinkie run."

Xavier

Xavier massaged his temples gently.

"At least they usually bring the car back in one piece...and here I thought emplyng Jocelyn to help Hank would help tone down that behaviour. Instead, she *joins* them."

Bobby, Storm and Bree

As if on cue, Bobby went screaming past Xavier's office, giggling and waving around what resembled to be a pair of underwear.

Storm looked at Bobby, then at Xavier.

"He's graduating soon," she said in relief.

Bree laughed slightly.

Xavier & Jubilee

"Thank god," Xavier said solemnly.

"Maybe I can stop ordering headache tablets in such large quantities."

"BOBBY! YOU DIE! YOU DIE NOW!"

Jubilee bladed past, body low as she raced to pick up speed.

"However, she's staying for a few more years," Xavier said.

Storm, Bobby and Bree

"But she won't be so bad when Bobby's gone and who's underwear is that?" Storm asked.

Bobby grinned sheepishly as he walked into the office.

"Jean's. I put it over Jubilee's head. Yeah, she wasn't too impressed."

Bree looked faintly scared.

Xavier & Jubilee

"I see..." Xavier said carefully.

"Bobby, need I remind you-"

"BANZAI!"

Jubilee crashtackled Bobby to the floor.

"Bobby, you JERK! Hi professor, Stormy."

Bobby and Storm

"That Jean's a teacher and blah blah? Ok, but I felt like some sort of prank had to be pulled because I'm leaving next month. Which reminds me, Jubes, we made those furry blue costumes, but never wore them and pretended to be Hanky. Let's do that now!" Bobby said, giggling.

"Poor Hank," Storm said softly.

Jubilee & Xavier

Jubilee giggled, and then bit Bobby hard on the shoulder.

"YES!"

"I think I need more tylenol..." Xavier sighed.

Bobby and Storm

Bobby grabbed Jubilee's hand and led her out to get their costumes.

"Just remember, he's leaving soon," Storm said.

Jubilee & Xavier

"Going to be Hank!" Jubilee sang.

"And hopefully, he will return more...steadied," Xavier said.

"I do not think we will see the last of Robert Drake."

Storm and Bobby

"Could you ban him from the school?" Storm said, smiling.

Bobby giggled and skipped along with Jubilee.

"Hanky Panky!"

Jubilee & Xavier

"I think Hank would become depressed," Xavier said.

"And hole up in his lab even further. Bobby has been good for him, as much as I hate to admit it."

"Bobby," Jubilee said suddenly.

"What do you think about Joss?"

Bobby and Storm

"I like her, why?" Bobby asked.

"She's good with Hank. That and she helps me play tricks on people."

Storm laughed slightly.

"But think of the quiet."

Jubilee & Xavier

"Love is in the air, dah dah de dah dah! Love is in the aaaaaaair!" Jubilee sang, off key.

"They're so cute. We should put them together. Plan, Bobby, plan!"

"It's tempting," Xavier said with a small smile.

Bobby, Storm and Bree

"Maybe they can trip, and fall into each other!" Bobby said, giggling.

Storm smiled.

"Quite. Anyway, I'll show Bree to her room."

"Thank you," Bree said softly.

Jubilee and Xavier

"What, you tripped and magically your hand ended up in her panties? Hank, we're shocked and appalled!"

Jubilee laughed.

"Welcome to the Institute, Bree. I hope you enjoy your time here with us," Xavier said gently.

Bobby, Storm and Bree

"What, she had something down her pants and like a gentleman you were merely fishing it out?" Bobby chuckled.

Storm started to lead her out.

"Thanks," Bree said again, following Storm.

Jubilee & Xavier

"Exactly! And my other hand is on her breast because she got cold. See, she's not wearing any clothes! And like the gentleman I am, I offered to help!"

Jubilee leant against Bobby, gasping for breath between giggles.

"Oh my stars and garters! Hahaha! And I bet Joss blushes."

Xavier smiled, and then turned his attention back to his paper work.

Bobby

Bobby strode through the doors of the medlabs and held his hand up.

"I AM READY!"

Jubilee

"WE ARE READY!" Jubilee shouted, and then broke down into giggles again.

"Hankyyyyy, where are you?"

Bobby

"Maybe he's making out with Joss," Bobby whispered.

He giggled.
