Miette
Miette was not used to all the formal glamour that came with royalty. Everyone wearing all those nice clothes to just about every single boring old party they went to.
You would think such a party would be the last place Prince Harry would need protection, but evidently not. However, the young man, however much he achknowledged the need, rather resented the increased security over the last few weeks. The violence of the public's inital reaction had died down, leaving just a few antimutant factions and the beginning of a tense adjustment period.
"Prince Harry, right?" asked a young woman, joining the Prince and Miette.
"Yes," Harry nodded. "And you're Princess Amelia, right?"
"Right. But please, call me Mia," Mia replied.
"No offence or anything, but aren't you a little young to be the ruler of a country?"
"Probably," Mia answered. "But, like you, I'm a mutant, and before I got the hang of it, my power had some... interesting affects on people."
"How so?"
"Well, my power is Obscurity, and for some reason, while they knew I was only 16 at the time, they didn't seem to comprehend it," Mia shrugged. "On the flipside, now that I have it's kept me safe from anti-mutant terrorist groups."
"Yeah?"
"How can they kill me if they can't seem to figure out where I am?"
"Good point."
Miette smiled and Mia turned to her.
"And you are?" she asked.
"Miette."
"She's my bodyguard," and the Prince rolled his eyes. "Or one of them. You know, son's a mutant, must overprotect from mutant haters, blah, blah, blah."
"Ahh," Mia nodded.
"Forgive my ignorance..." Miette said slowly. "But where are you Princess of?"
"Genovia," Mia replied. "It's okay if you haven't heard of it. Just a little European Principality."
"That was the first country in the world to have equal mutant rights," Harry pointed out. "You've been on the map for, what? A year now?"
"Close to, not quite."
"How is all that coming? There peace between your people yet?" Harry was almost nervous about the answer to this question.
"Reasonably," Mia replied. "A number of mutant businesses started - both catering to the mutant population, and mutants making use of their powers to make a buck."
"Everyone's out to make a buck," Miette smiled. "Or a pound."
"Indeed. Tourisim went down, but it's starting to creep back up again. Migration went beserk though. Many left, but just as many immigrated too. Mostly mutants, I might add. Guess they were trying to get away from whatever oppressions may have been in their own countries."
"Do... do you think that might happen here?"
Mia shrugged.
"It might. But bear in mind you're slightly bigger than Genovia."
"Just slightly," Harry grinned.
