Present For the Musician

Written by AiMsTeR and Tegan

Isaac Blakesley

Isaac Blakesley was careful as he stepped out of the cab with his luggage.

He paid the driver, then made his way into the lab. The employees tried to hide their stares as he walked past to get to the reception.

"Yes, Dr. Blakesley?" the woman looked both fearful and curious.

"Could you page my son please, Lois?"

"Certainly, sir."

Blakesley

Blakesley recieved the page and was soon on his way. A cold smile curved his lips slightly as he saw his father.

"Father."

Isaac Blakesley

"Good morning Kaleb."

He set the large case on the floor by his side.

"A gift. For Taylor."

Blakesley

"I would assume you wish to present this to him yourself?" Blakesley said.

"I will get a soldier to take it down right away."

Isaac Blakesley & Taylor

"I would, prefer to give it to him," Isaac nodded, straightening his jacket.

~*~

Taylor groaned slightly as he began to finally come to.

At first he opened his eyes, struggling to see anything, then he attempted to move.

Realizing he couldn't, his terror levels rose enormously.

He let out a cry - almost a scream - and began to struggle violently. The sudden fear made it difficult to breathe, and his heart rate had suddenly shot through the roof.

Blakesley

Blakesley got a soldier to pick the package up and they walked down to Taylor's cell. The scientist opened the cell and they walked in.

From the faint struggles visible through the sleepsack made it obvious Taylor had awoken.

Christian, Isaac Blakesley & Taylor

Christian rubbed his chest absently, not knowing why at the time.

~*~

Isaac raised an eyebrow.

"It would seem that something had happened last night to* provoke such a restraint," he said slyly.

~*~

Taylor mindlessly continued his panic attack, well on the way to a minor heart attack.

Blakesley

"He killed one of my experiments," Blakesley said in disapproval, before leaning down to unzip the bag around Taylor's face.

"It was rather...annoying."

Isaac Blakesley & Taylor

"Understandable," Isaac nodded curtly.

Taylor tried hard to keep still as he felt the movement. He could tell what had been done, and pheromones alone told him who stood over him.

But his breathing was still a struggle, and his face was red and wet with tears.

"I will need him unrestrained for this," Isaac insisted.

Blakesley

"As you wish," Blakesley said, and set about the task of removing Taylor from his restraints.

When this was done, he stepped back and looked at hid father curiously.

"What, exactly, do you intend to do?"

Taylor & Isaac Blakesley

Taylor sat, shaking uncontrollably on the table. He'd almost fallen off, but managed to steady himself.

He kept his eyes on the both of them, petrified about what they might do, and wondering what had happened to him earlier.

Isaac indicated for the case to be set down beside him and opened. The soldier who held it did so, before stepping back.

Isaac looked up to see Taylor's reaction. It took a moment for Taylor's eyes to fall to it - scared to take his eyes away from the men. When he saw it, confusion was simply added to his facial expression.

It was an acoustic guitar.

"One last time," Isaac said softly, watching his face.

He knew the emotional disturbance caused by this would be simply delicious.

Blakesley

Blakesley's eyes widened slightly in surprise, then he smiled slowly.

"Yes, why not? Plau something then, Taylor."

Taylor & Isaac Blakesley

Taylor's eyes shot up to Blakesley as he opened his mouth to try and say something.

The words escaped him for a moment, before he shook his head.

"Please* don't make me do this," he looked toward Isaac pleadingly.

"well personally I'd love to hear you sing," Isaac lied smoothly, looking over the guitar so Taylor couldn't see his eyes.

"How about you, Kaleb?"

Blakesley

"Yes, but I have this feeling he's going to be...difficult," Blakesley sighed.

"And I do so get irritated when people are difficult."

Taylor & Isaac Blakesley

Taylor cringed at that and began to eye off the guitar.

Isaac leant over slightly, and lifted it out of the case. Hesitating for a moment, he held it out.

Taylor just stared at it, before glancing at Blakesley.

He knew what Blakesley had meant. Dammit, he knew.

And he couldn't bear to be in the position he was in again.

He slowly reached out and took the guitar from Isaac, before slipping from the table and backing against a wall. Keeping his eyes to the floor - his attention to the two men out the corner of his eye - he slid to the ground and began to tune it by ear.

Blakesley

"It's almost ritualistic, isn't it?" Blakesley observed while Taylor fiddled with the guitar.

"Muscians, when they tune their instruments."

Taylor & Isaac Blakesley

Taylor swallowed hard as he faltered slightly, then continued with what he was doing.

Isaac moved across to the table and leant over it patiently, glancing at his son.

"I believe so."

"Is this really the last time?" Taylor had to make sure, his eyes welling up as he looked up at them.

Isaac nodded slightly.

Blakesley

"Play," Blakesley suggested softly.

"And let us hear your...swan song."

Taylor & Isaac Blakesley

Taylor hesitated, trying to ignore that last statement, before letting his fingers flow over the strings.

The fingers on his left hand settled into position as he began to play.

Well I just can't seem to pity
`Cause my heart's to numb to feel
And the smile does all the talking
Though the pain is all that's real
With the way that you keep screaming
I can hardly hear to think
And I feel the bridges burning
Underneath my feet

Where do you go, Oooh
When you're gone
Where do you go, Oooh
When you're gone
Oh, how the road feels so long
But where do you go Ooh
When you're gone

I just want to stay dreaming
No I just don't want to wake
Why can't we keep on sailing
Across this emerald lake
My forehead is still bleeding
From the thorns I used to wear
And I'm left alone and beaten
For this cross I choose to bear

Where do you go, Oooh
When you're gone
Where do you go, Oooh
When you're gone
Oh, how the road feels so long
But where do you go Ooh
When you're gone

Well I finally found what I'm looking for
Though the road's still long and the light is still far
But I finally found what I'm looking for
Well I finally found what I'm looking for
Though the road's still long and the light is still far
But I finally found what I'm looking for

Well the voices fall like timber
And the fear it pours like rain
And my heart is crushed to cinders
Underneath this kind of pain
Well there is no resolution
When the revolution's dead
So I'm left with no solution
For the voices in my head

Where do you go, Oooh
When you're gone
Where do you go, Oooh
When you're gone
Oh, how the road feels so long
But where do you go, Ooh
When you're gone

Isaac smiled throughout the song, noticing how the lyrics coincided with Taylor's obvious current worries.

Blakesley

"Very pretty," Blakesley said languidly, then looked at his father and raised an eyebrow.

"Didn't you think so, Father?"

Taylor & Isaac Blakesley

"Indeed," Isaac agreed, his eyes on Taylor.

Taylor looked lost for words, unsure of what they wanted him to do now.

"How about the last one?" Isaac asked softly, "are you up for it?"

Taylor glanced toward his feet, then returned his gaze to the floor.

He nodded slightly, thinking for a moment.

Shaking his hand out a little, he began to play again.

I don't feel myself today
Just a figure in a big monopoly game
Struggle is the price you pay
You get just enough just to give it away
I'm sinking but I'm floating away
Throw me a line so I can anchor my pain
The fabric is about to fray
The fabric is about to fray

Maybe you could take a look at yourself lately
Maybe you could take a look at yourself lately
Maybe you could take a look at yourself lately

Things keep coming and I keep wondering
I start feeling the walls close in
Things keep coming and I keep stumbling
I start feeling I'm strong enough to break
Oh, I start feeling I'm strong enough to break

Been running through my mind today
Scenarios to add to your hypocrisy
No one ever takes the blame
But everyone is searching for a cure to the pain
Nothing ever seems to change
Oh, nothing ever seems to change
We just play like broken records in a deaf man's charade

Maybe you could take a look at yourself lately
Maybe you could take a look at yourself lately
Maybe you could take a look at yourself lately

Things keep coming and I keep wondering
I start feeling the walls close in
Things keep coming and I keep stumbling
I start feeling I'm strong enough to break
Oh, I start feeling I'm strong enough to break

Carry on just a pawn in the same old song
I'm still holding on

The fabric is about to fray

Maybe you could take a look at yourself lately
Maybe you could take a look at yourself lately

Things keep coming and I keep wondering
I start feeling the walls close in
Things keep coming and I keep stumbling
I start feeling I'm strong enough
Things keep coming and I keep wondering
I start feeling the walls close in
Things keep coming and I keep stumbling
I start feeling I'm strong enough to break
Oh, I start feeling I'm strong enough to break

With a gulp, Taylor finished up and placed the guitar carefully on the floor in front of him.

Isaac made his way over and took it away. As he passed Kaleb, he turned his head slightly.

"Blind him."

Taylor's head shot up.

"No, please," he begged, "I will do anything you say, anything you ask, I promise."

Blakesley

"I would brace yourself, Taylor, because this is *really* going to hurt," Blakesley said, rising to his feet and crossing to the cupboard.

He opened it and took out a slim knife before turning back, smiling slightly.

Taylor & Isaac Blakesley

Taylor's eyes widened as they fell on the knife, and he began to edge away shaking his head.

"Please, no*" he almost cried, before picking up speed and scrambling back into a corner.

"I'll do anything. Please? I'm no threat, I* I'll read nothing if you don't want me to. I'll translate anything for you. Just please don't do this, please," he babbled under his breath.

Isaac placed the guitar back inside the case and closed and locked it.

Blakesley

Blakesley called for someone to come in and help him hold Taylor still. When the soldier came in, he got the man to pin Taylor's arms to his chest and use his other hand to hold his face exposed.

"Unfortunately, Taylor...you're too dangerous to us like this."

The scientist smiled, and then stabbed the knife forward into Taylor's eye swiftly.

Isaac Blakesley & Taylor

Isaac tutted slightly.

"Don't be forgetting Kaleb that I would like at least one of his eyes intact," he reminded his son as Taylor practically screamed in agony in the background.

Taylor was trying to fight back as best as he could,, feeling the fluids run down his face.

Blakesley

"Of course, where are my manners?" Blaksley tsked at himself.

"Hold him still."

He started to apply himself to the more delicate task of digging out Taylor's eye without harm.

Taylor & Isaac Blakesley

Isaac slid his eyes closed and shivered slightly, revelling in Taylor's protests.

Taylor's cries had upped in pitch, and begun to up in decibel level.

His body was shaking uncontrollably.

Blakesley

Blakesley slid the scalpel deeper into Taylor's eye socket, cutting the connections it held to the rest of the body. A few moments more, and he just popped the eye out into his hand.

"Would you like me to put it in something, Father?" Blakesley inquired while Taylor continued to scream.

Taylor, Christian & Isaac Blakesley

"Have it sterilized like the others I have at home. It has been a while, but you remember the small jars in the den, don't you?" Isaac inquired.

Taylor's cries had died down, realizing it was well too late. His body suddenly collapsed under the soldier as he fell into a dead faint.

Meanwhile, Christian rubbed his right eye absently, thinking over Blakesley's proposition again.

Blakesley

Blakesley nodded and turned away to do that.

"Anything else you think may be required?" he asked.

"Although..he appears to have fainted. It takes away the effect when they're unconscious..."

Isaac Blakesley & Christian

"Not as yet, but we have plenty of time," Isaac soothed softly, indicating for the guitar case to be picked up.

A soldier did so.

Meanwhile, Christian slid down from the bench and looked up at the camera for a moment.

Taking a deep breath, and regretting it already, he shouted:

"BLAKESLEY?!"

Blakesley

The scientist carefully deposited the eye in a clean jar and finished making sure it wouldn't decompose or similiar before the intercom rang.

"What is it?" he asked, going to wash his hands clean of blood.

"The subject Christian, is requesting your attention," a cold female voice said.

"Patch a line through to this room," Blakesley said.

"Yes sir. Patch completed."

"What is it, Christian?" Blakesley said.

Isaac Blakesley & Christian

Isaac looked up in interest as the soldier with the case left the room.

Christian scratched his head in his cell.

"Ah* about that offer you made," he began.

"When do I leave? I'm sick of sitting around doing nothing."

This, being his way of agreeing to it.

Blakesley

"So glad to hear you've decided to be slightly more reasonable," Blakesley said.

"You'll leave tomorrow."

When the trackers and implants have fully settled into your body...the scientist thought to himself.

Christian & Isaac Blakesley

"And you let Taylor go?" Christian raised his eyebrows.

Isaac glanced across at his son, wondering what sort of arrangement he'd made.

Blakesley

Blakesley smiled.

"Of course."

Christian

"All right then," Christian gave the camera a weary look, before jumping back up onto the table.

"And I'll need profiles. For the ones you want."

Blakesley

"Standard operating procedure," Blakesley said.

"I'll have one of the aides deliver them right away."

Christian & Isaac Blakesley

Christian didn't reply, just set to waiting for someone to show up.

His eye was really starting to bug him.

"Do you have all bases covered?" Isaac raised an eyebrow, directing his statement at Christian's `operation'.

Blakesley

"Remove patch," Blakesley ordered before turning to his father.

"Of course. Do you doubt my ability to manipulate these two as I wish?"

Isaac Blakesley

"I may," Isaac raised his eyebrows.

"But it appears all doubts will be laid to rest tomorrow."

He finished rearranging the tools in the cabinet.

"And that is when I will see you next. I will be here in the morning."

Blakesley

"I will see you tomorrow then," Blakesley said softly.

When his father had left, he made arrangments for Taylor's injuiries to be taken care of.
