Magneto, Toad & Xavier
Magneto floated slowly to the ground, burgundy cloak clinging against his legs. Toad sat up from where he'd been moping under a tree, near the pond. Eating bugs, as was his wont.
He shrank back slightly against the tree's bark, wary eyes on Magneto.
"Wot do yew want now, Magneto?"
"You, back by my side."
Magneto smiled, gesturing with one hand to the tracking device on Toad's leg.
"I can see the X-Men have welcomed you with less then welcome arms."
"Yeah, well..."
Toad looked away, then back up at Magneto.
"Yew know wot I saw on the babble box the other night? A flat scan wearing the skin of a snake girl I knew, like it was a coat. She was like me, yew know. She was a mutant who looked even more far out then I do, scales, and fangs and a forked tongue. No 'air. And they killed her and skinned her, and here was this fancy piece swanning around in her skin like it was a coat. Like she didn't count fer shit. Like she was only an animal."
Toad stood, eyes full of hate.
"If I get to kill 'em, I'm your'n."
"Excellent."
Magneto disabled the tracking device easily, and then he and Toad left the mansion.
"My friend, I wish you had not chosen this path," Xavier said regretfully into his empty office.
"I can see that no good will come of it."
