Leroy
Leroy thundered into the infirmary.
"Where is she?"
The healer on duty gave Leroy a long look.
"You might be the commander of this station," she said, "but that is no excuse to come barging into the infirmary like a pack of stampeeding elephants."
"Sorry. But Tanya? Where is she? How is she? And how's the baby?"
"The baby is fine. A happy, healthy baby boy. But Tanya..."
"What? What is it?"
"All the other healers are with her now," she said quietly. "There were... complications..."
"What kind of complications?" Leroy asked, his eyes wide with alarm.
"The kind brought on by her pervious injuries. You know, the ones which told her that she couldn't have children."
"Ahh," and Leroy sat down.
"I'm sure she'll be fine. There are three healers with her right now. This is the best place she could possibly be right now."
Leroy nodded.
"Do you want to see your son?"
"I, ahh," for some reason the question caught him by surprise. "Yes."
The healer smiled and escorted Leroy to the room where the baby was sound asleep.
Tanya and Leroy
Tanya looked up as Leroy entered, the baby in his arms.
"Leroy!" she smiled. "You're here!"
"I am," Leroy smiled. "I came as soon as I heard. Are you okay?"
"I could be better. But I'm over the worst of it," then she reached out her arms. "Can I hold him?"
"Huh? Oh yeah, sure," Leroy replied with a grin and held the baby out to her.
Tanya took her child with outstretched arms.
"Hey, sweetie," she cooed. "How are you?"
Leroy smiled.
"You decided on a name?"
"Christopher. You know that."
"I had hoped... nevermind."
"That I'd change my mind?"
Leroy said nothing.
"I know you and Christian don't like each other, but he's my son, and I'll name him what I want."
"He's my son too," Leroy said quietly.
"Well, his last name shall be Brown. And in any case, I plan on calling him Kit, as opposed to Chris, for short. Save confusion."
"Hmm."
"You can pick his middle name if that will make you happy," Tanya said with a grin.
Leroy grinned back.
