Kurt
Kurt bit back on his lip until it bled, trying to stop the sound he was making. Verdammt!
Thrrrrrrrmmmmmmm...
Purring. Like a katz.
ThhhhrrrrrRRRRUUUMMMMMmmmmmmmbllllllle...
Like he was some type of verdamnt animal!
He wasn't, he wasn't! He was HUMAN! Humans didn't PURR! They didn't growl like a dog when something annoyed them. They didn't howl like a wolf with misery. They didn't mew, whimper or yelp, like some type of pet.
'Hey, cool!' they said, 'Check out what he does when you do this!' and, 'Make him do it again!' And the hands, always the hands, in that welcome/unwelcome way. Touching him in ways that he loved/hated. Making him do It for their entertainment. And because they were bigger than he was, he couldn't stop them, couldn't escape.
Making him purr, poor little afraid child with blue fur, pointed ears and a tail. Only animals had tails, right? So, he must be an animal. Treated with casual cruelty by boys who kicked puppies and threw stones at cats. Made to purr while his yellow eyes overflowed with tears, hands petting and stroking his blue fur just to make him perform for them.
Margali had saved him from them, cutting them away with her harsh words and hitting one of them on the legs with her cane.
"Es ist gut jetzt, kleines. Es ist gut, mein Herz. Ruhe unten jetzt, shh..." (It's alright now, little one. It's alright, my heart. Calm down now, shh...)
Sobbing into her smoke and herb scented hair, tail curling up around her arm as she lifted him, moving the hood of the cloak back over his head. Hiding his face. And still the betraying purr rumbled through his chest.
...thrrrrmmmmm...
'Better be careful, you'll need a flea collar next if you don't stay away from the dogs.' Widened hurt in amber eyes, from words kindly meant. He was not an animal, he was a child! A child with blue fur, a tail, fangs and a tendecy to make noises that belonged to a katz, or a hund. Or a bär.
Kurt stifled his sobs, calming down as he rocked and prayed.
Dear God, save me. Please, I am not an animal. Please God, please...
