27 April 2004 - Manifesting

Written by Nessa and Tegan

Rebekah

Rebekah stared moodily out the window, frustrated with not being able to do anything for herself. She felt sorry for Jono, who was having to help her do everything, and she wasn't exactly the best company at the moment. Levi had been hovering in her mind, letting her know that he was there for her if she needed to talk, but she just couldn't. She wasn't ok anymore, too much had happened this year, and she couldn't handle it anymore.

Rebekah turned and glared at her guitar, which was leaning against the wall in the corner of her room. Her fingers were aching to play, to curl over the strings and just go until they bled. Even to touch the guitar, to hold it* it was something she had never thought she'd miss. Something that had always been second nature.

As she looked at her guitar, the want for holding it grew stronger. Rebekah didn't blink, and as she stared, the guitar moved. It slid across the floor towards her. She blinked, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion. Had she done that? She tried again, this time focusing on a soft toy on her bed. After a long moment with no reaction, Rebekah huffed in annoyance, and the shelves in her room rattled.

Her eyes widened slightly, and the rattling stopped. Focusing intently, and amplifying her annoyance, she telekinetically lifted a book off her shelf and let it fly once around the room, then land gently in her lap.

Oh holy shit.

She was manifesting.

"Dr McCoy*"

Rebekah got out of her seat, and using her elbows to press the buttons, she made it down to the medlabs, panting slightly.

"Oh God, Dr McCoy!"

Hank

"Yes, what is it?" Hank said, coming out of his office quickly, concern in his eyes.

"Did you jar your hands?"

Rebekah

"Non, I think... I think my powers are manifesting... watch this."

Rebekah focused on a book from his office, and floated it over.

Hank

"Oh my stars and garters..." Hank murmured.

"When did you begin to be able to do this?"

Rebekah

Rebekah nodded.

Hank

"Ah...I see," Hank said slowly.

"Do you think that has happened because you are not able to use your hands at the moment?"

Rebekah

Rebekah nodded.

"That was my first thought."

Hank

"How interesting...your mutation is progressing to aid you due to injury," Hank said.

"That has not I think been seen before."

Rebekah

Rebekah thought for a moment.

"It's not a bad thing, is it?"

Hank

"No, oh no," Hank assured her.

"It's just not something that's happened before. It's actually tremendously exciting."

Rebekah

"But how do I control it? It only seems to work when I'm annoyed."

Rebekah sat down on a bed and looked at Hank.

Hank

"One would assume, from looking at other manifestations of the Xgene that control would come with time," Hank said.

"You learned how to control your other powers with practise and refinement."

Rebekah

Rebekah nodded.

"But in the meantime, I don't want to hurt anyone."

Hank

"I'm sure you won't," Hank said comfortingly.

"You must try to control your temper until you're sure you have your talent under control, that's all. I would suggest you talk to other telekinetics to learn more."

Rebekah

"Like... like Jean?"

Rebekah looked skeptical.

Hank

"Possibly..." Hank said slowly.

"There may be other telekinetics you feel more comfortable talking to, if Jean is not acceptable."

Rebekah

"That sounds better."

Rebekah paused.

"Could I get some painkillers?"

Hank

"Have you finished the ones I gave you already?" Hank scolded her.

"You're only meant to take one every four hours, less if possible."

Rebekah

"It's just hurting," Rebekah replied softly.

"And I can't sleep."

Hank

"If I give you anything stronger, they're possibly habit forming," Hank said.

"And I really shouldn't give you more, Rebekah."

Rebekah

Rebekah nodded.

"Ok."

She got up and closed her eyes for a moment.

"Merci anyway."

She started back up to Jono's room.

Hank

Hank sighed, went and got some painkillers, then rushed after her.

"Rebekah. Please do not abuse my trust I put in you to administer the drugs to yourself responsibly again."

Rebekah

"I'm sorry, I just... I'm aching."

Rebekah took the pills with Hank's assistance, and then thanked him again, going up to Jono's room.

She looked at the closed door and felt her growing resentment that she couldn't open it herself.

As she glared at it, the door shook, just gently at first, then violently, and flew open, her eyes shining white for a moment.

Jonothon

Jonothon and Angelo looked up, startled. Jonothon dropped his pencil.

"Interestin'."

"Si, vato."

Rebekah

"Hank says I'm manifesting," was Rebekah's greeting.

She stepped into the room and smiled sheepishly.

"Sorry about the door."

Jonothon

"Nice, chika," Angelo said appreciatively.

"Yer could 'ave said something, I would of opened it," JOnothon said gently.

Rebekah

Rebekah sat down on the bed.

"I just hate being helpless."

Jonothon

"Yer not 'elpless," JOnothon said.

"Just...momentarily unwell," Angelo said.

Rebekah

"Thanks, I guess."

Rebekah smiled slightly at them.

"I just... it hurts, knowing that I can do things, but I can't..."

Jonothon

"The Doc is good at fixing people," JOnothon said comfortingly.

"Gwen walked again, didn't she?"

Rebekah

"Yes," Rebekah said, her voice coming out hoarse from not using it for awhile.

She cleared her throat.

Jonothon

"Well, it's nice to hear that again," Angelo commented.

"Yeah."

Jonothon smiled at her.

Rebekah

Rebekah smiled back slightly.

"Thank you for putting up with me," she said.

She focused intently on the glass of water Jono had left for her on the side of his bed and let it float slowly over to her, amplifying her annoyance for a moment.

JOnothon

"Well, I love yer, that makes it easier," JOnothon said.

"And I just happen to think of you as a friend, chika," Angelo added.

Rebekah

Rebekah tilted the glass slightly and drank from it, then sent it slowly flying over to it's place on the table.

She breathed heavily for a moment with the effort, switching her annoyance off.

"Merci," she said, blushing slightly.

"I know that I've been snappy, and I am sorry."

Jonothon

"S'ok," JOnothon said.

"If I can put up with him, I can put up with you, chika," Angelo said.

Jonothon mock-glared at his friend.

Rebekah

Rebekah nodded.

"Yes, after all, I have better tits than Jono," she said seriously.

Jonothon

"Yes, very much so," ANgelo agreed.

Jonothon slapped Angelo upside the head.

"What?! She does."

Rebekah

Rebekah laughed for the first time since the accident, and she went and kissed Jono's nose.

"He's just defending my honour, from riff raff such as yourself, Angelo," she teased.

Jonothon

"Me, riffraff?"

Angelo looked offended.

"Well, what about him then? He's riffraff."

"I prefer the terms, Limey gutterrat meself."

Rebekah

"I'm a step away from royalty, thanks, so you're all riff raff to me."

Rebekah nodded.

Jonothon

"I would tickle you now," Angelo said.

"Unfair use of injury to prevent proper punishment for being a snot," Jonothon added.

Rebekah

Rebekah grinned, then focusing on Angelo, she amplified her annoyance, and telekinetically lifted him about a foot off the bed.

"Try and tickle me now..."

Jonothon

"Dios!" Angelo exclaimed.

"Bek, put me down....gently!"

Jonothon chuckled slightly.

Rebekah

Rebekah lowered Angelo onto the bed gently, laying him out on his back.

"There."

She leant against Jono slightly.

Jonothon

"Thank you!" Angelo huffed, before he put his hands behind his head and stretched out.

"Just make yerself at 'ome."

"Thank you, I will."

Rebekah

Rebekah smiled lightly, and then winced as she bumped her hand against her leg.

"Making yourself at home usually means getting naked. And he's not. So he's not really at home."

Jonothon

"Does not mean getting naked," Jonothon protested.

"Sounds appealing though," Angelo teased.

Rebekah

Rebekah grinned and then wiggled her eyebrows at Jono.

"Want me to make myself at home?"

Jonothon

JOnothon rolled his eyes and turned to his computer, turning it on.

"Oh, now he's ignoring us," Angelo said.

Rebekah

Rebekah grinned.

"Well, seeing as he's not interested, Angelo, I can tell you the news."

Jonothon

"What news?" Angelo asked.

Jonothon tapped at his keyboard.

Rebekah

"Well..."

Rebekah glanced at Jono.

"Sometimes when Jono and I are in the middle of stuff, he gets his body back... and well... from some of those times... I'm pregnant."

Jonothon

"Yer wot?"

JOnothon turned around in his chair, eyes wide.

Angelo laughed.

"Congratulations."

Rebekah

Rebekah nodded.

"I found out yesterday before... the whole hand thing happened."

She gave a small smile.

"So uh... surprise?"

Jonothon

Jonothon blinked slightly.

"You've broken him," Angelo said.

"I just...wow."

Rebekah

Rebekah nodded.

"That was my reaction to. But I mean, we don't... you know if you don't want it, there are choices."

Jonothon

"No, I want it," Jonothon said.

"I never even thought I'd have kids...after...everythin'."

Rebekah

Rebekah smiled.

"Well, now you will, and you'll be the best father."

Jonothon

"Well, I think I'll definetly be better them my dad," Jonothon said.

"Not difficult," Angelo drawled.

Rebekah

"Yes, and of course seeing as they'll be inheriting my genes, the kid will be so good looking."

Rebekah nodded.

Jonothon

"Yeah."

Jonothon smiled slightly.

"And all of them musos, of course," Angelo said.

Rebekah

"All? Non, we're going with one, do you know how hard it is to give birth to more than one?"

Rebekah paused.

"Actually, no, I do not suppose you would."

Jonothon

"No, but I listened to my sister scream at her husband when she had twins," Angelo said cheerfully.

"Don't look at me, I was an only child," Jonothon added.

Rebekah

"Well... I've already had twins," Rebekah said, looking sad for a moment.

"But, every moment of pain is worth it, I suppose."

Jonothon

Jonothon got up and kissed her affectionately on the forehead.

"Luv yer."

Rebekah

"I love you too," Rebekah replied, smiling.

"And just think, nine months from now we'll have a little kid, running around..."

Jonothon

"Yeah."

Jonothon smiled.

Rebekah

Rebekah shook her head slightly.

"I think we should ask Angelo to be godfather," she said privately to Jono.

Jonothon

"Yeah," JOnothon sent back on the same private link.

"So, names?" Angelo asked, oblivious.

Rebekah

"Rebekah jnr. Or Jono jnr."

Rebekah nodded seriously.

"Or I don't know, Jono, think of names."

Jonothon

"I don't know..."

Jonothon shook his head slightly.

"We have nine months, more or less to worry bout it anyway."

Rebekah

"So here's a question, do we want to find out the sex so we can plan ahead?"

Rebekah paused.

"I didn't with Filipo and Terence, and I..."

She broke off for a moment before continuing.

"I just had to buy all the unisex stuff."

Jonothon

"Wot do yer feel like, luv?" Jonothon asked.

"I'm 'onestly not bothered either way."

Rebekah

"It's up to you, I don't really mind either way."

Rebekah lay on his bed, leaning her head against Angelo's stomach.

Jonothon

Angelo ran his hand through Bek's hair lightly.

"Something pretty for a girl. A nice name."

"And fer a boy?" Jonothon asked, eyes gleaming slightly.

"Something strong."

Rebekah

Rebekah looked up at Angelo through her eyelashes and smiled slightly, then stuck her tongue out at Jono.

"Hmmm..."

Jonothon

"Don't poke yer tongue out unless you intend to use it," JOnothon said.

Angelo shook his head.

Rebekah

Rebekah stuck her tongue out again at him, then did it to Angelo.

"I'm injured, can't hurt me!"

Jonothon

Angelo pinched her butt.

"Be quiet."

Jonothon chuckled.

Rebekah

Rebekah pouted.

"Jono, Angelo is sexually harrassing me."

JOnothon

"Oh dear," JOnothon said.

He made no move to get up.

Rebekah

"He has his fingers in innappropriate places!"

Rebekah grinned.

Jonothon

"A scandal," Jonothon deadpanned.

"Oh, si," Angelo agreed.

He kept his hand on her butt.

Rebekah

"And I can't fight him off in my injured state!"

Rebekah pouted.

"Jonoooooooo."

Jonothon

"Wot, pet?" Jonothon asked in slight puzzlement.

Angelo laughed softly.

Rebekah

"Hmmph, I'm so unloved."

Rebekah focused and telekinetically lifted Angelo again, setting him down in Jono's lap.

Jonothon

"Playing tricks and being snotty," Angelo remarked as he stood and then went to lie down on the bed again.

"Have a lot to pay for when you're no longer injured," JOnothon noted.

Rebekah

"Ah, but I am."

Rebekah lay across Angelo, sighing dramatically.

"Still so unloved."

JOnothon

"Yeah, when yer being a snotty little princess," JOnothon said.

"Hide your credit cards!" Angelo declared.

Rebekah

Rebekah pouted.

"Fine, I'll just go find Octavian and get him to make me feel better."

Jonothon

"Unlikely," Angelo said, after considering it for a moment.

"Yeah," Jonothon agreed.

"Besides, Tavvie's with that kid cousin of Kurt's."

Rebekah

"Hmmmmmm."

Rebekah got up and went and sat in Jono's lap, and kissed his neck.

Jonothon

Jonothon lowered his head and kissed her properly.

"Can't be good, kissing bandages."

Rebekah

Rebekah shrugged.

"I don't really even see them. You're not your mutation, Jono, and I love all of you."

She kissed his forehead softly.

Jonothon

"Awwww," Angelo said.

"Shut up, Ange."

Jonothon kissed her gently.

Rebekah

Rebekah smiled and kissed him back.

"Shhh Angelo."

Jonothon

"So unloved," Angelo sighed.

"Unloved, unwanted, unneeded," Jonothon added.

"Thank you for being so beautifully blunt, as usual, Jono."

Rebekah

"I love you Angelo. Ok, not love love, but love."

Rebekah nodded.

"Mmmhmmm."

Jonothon

"Thank you, Bek," Angelo said.

"Don't encourage him," Jonothon advised.

Rebekah

Rebekah chuckled and went to sit on Jono's bed again, leaning against the pillows.

"Poor Angelo."

Jonothon

"Yes, poor me," ANgelo said.

He made a sad face. Jonothon threw a ball of wadded up paper at him.

Rebekah

"Awwwww!"

Rebekah pouted at Angelo in sympathy.

Jonothon

"He knows I don't mean it," JOnothon said, picking up a pen to continue writing.

"Maybe I don't. Maybe I feel all unloved," Angelo said.

Rebekah

Rebekah squinted as she focused on the pillow Angelo was leaning against, then pulled it away suddenly, letting him fall flat onto the bed.

Jonothon

Angeloo oofed. Jonothon laughed.

"*Very* unloved," Angelo pouted.

Rebekah

"But I have to practice my new power, Angelo," Rebekah said, looking innocent.

Jonothon

Angelo slapped her butt, making his hand supersized for a moment.

"On other things besides people."

"Oh, according to the media, we ain't, Ange," JOnothon said.

Rebekah

"Awww, you can't hit the injured."

Rebekah focused and let him levitate a foot off the bed.

Jonothon

"Don't drop him on anything important," JOnothon said.

"So much concern for my wellbeing," Angelo scolded.

Rebekah

Rebekah lowered him carefully, then lost focus and he fell a few centimetres onto the bed.

"Ah, sorry."

Jonothon

"He doesn't break easy," Jonothon said.

"As fun as this has been...I've got homework to do," ANgelo said as he got up from the bed.

"See yer, mate."

Rebekah

"Bye Angelo."

Rebekah watched him go, then got comfortable on Jono's bed, sighing slightly as she tried to get comfortable without using her hands.

Jonothon

"Wotcher hands," Jonothon warned softly.

He made a notation on the paper.

Rebekah

Rebekah finally got comfortable, falling asleep to the sounds of Jono's pen scratching against paper.
