24 April 2004 - Trying to be sneaky

Written by Joy and Tegan

Scott

Lois Lane parked her car and slipped on her sunglasses, looking over her shoulder to make sure nobody was following her as she slipped through the gate. Scott Summers kept refusing to let her interview his students, so she was going to do it her way. She snuck through the grounds, tying to observe the students without being see.

"Scott," Professor Xavier said as he sipped his coffee. "I do believe we have a visitor on school grounds. That reporter who keeps calling you?"

"Lois Lane," Scott growled, as he moved a fussy Joyce from one shoulder to the other.

"When she makes it up throught the grounds up the foyer, bring her to me. I'd like to talk to her for a moment before we escort her off the grounds." Scott nodded, handing his daughter back to his wife, who took over feeding Joyce her applesauce.

Octavian & Nikolai

"Nicu, come on!" Octavian called back over his shoulder as he taught Nikolai how to ride.

"Kommen, Meister," Nikolai said, rolling his eyes. (Coming, Master.)

Octavian chuckled and reined his horse in as he saw Lois.

"Wenn ich Ihnen erkläre, Nicu, Zupacken, was ich zu Ihnen werfe und Logan es gebe." (When I tell you, Nicu, grab what I throw to you and give it to Logan.)

"Ja, Tav," Nikolai said, plainly confused.

Octavian kicked his horse in the sides.

"HAI!"

The amber coated Arabian gelding exploded into movement, hooves beating a tattoo against the earth as he galloped past Lois, Octavian leaning down in his saddle to grab her camera from around her neck. He threw it to Nicolai, who wheeled his roan mare and took off in the other direction.

"Now. Who are you, and why are you on this private property, miss media snoop?" Octavian said coldly while his horse danced in nervous steps around the reporter.

Lois

"You're one of the members of Displaced, am I right?" Lois said, switching her tape recorder on in her pocket.

"What is it like going to school here? Are you popular? Do you have a lot of friends? how did your family react when they found out you were a mutant?" Lois asked Octavian, completely unfussed by his actions. She was a bitch and she knew it well.

Octavian

"I do not have to answer any of your questions, madame," Octavian said, voice positively glacial.

"If you wished to know the answers to your questions, you should have contacted our publicity agent. Get off this private property before I exercise my right under American federal law to shoot you in the extremely large buttocks you are sporting."

The horse whickered and reared, hooves pawing the air in the direction of Lois's face.

"And I think that I will dispose of that recording device as well. Apollo!"

The stallion's head whipped around like a snake and large ugly teeth gripped the corner of Lois's coat and tugged. Something in her pocket squealed and died with a sound of crunching plastic. Octavian tapped his heels against Apollo's side and the horse danced forward, sidling from side to side as it came close to stepping on Lois.

"Go away. Before I call security to throw you out."

Lois

"It's like to speak to somebody of actual importance, please. One of the staff, perhaps. And don't threaten me, I'm Lois Lane of the New York Times. The lead investigative reporter of the most respected newspaper on the planet. I came here to get an interview, and I will not leave without one." Lois said snidely.

Seeing something interesting, Jesse Tuck rode over on his horse who was also nearly 200 years old.

"Hey Octavian. What's all this about?"

Octavian

Octavian's horse reared again, neighing in an ugly temper as Jesse rode up.

"Idiot!" Octavian shouted at Jesse, struggling to get the stallion back under control.

"Apollo is already ready to kill her, and you come up on another HORSE?! Daft fool! GET BACK!"

The horse started to buck, sunfishing in a circle, one shoulder low to the ground and letting off huge fly kicks with his hind legs. Octavian reined in hard, talking quickly to the raging stallion.

"Whoa, Apollo! Easy, easy boy!"

The stallion whipped around in a figure of eight and then kicked out at Lois, catching her in the chest and sending her flying. Apollo turned as Octavian struggled to hold him back, eyes mean and evil as the golden coloured horse lunged for Jesse. He bit an ugly weal across the other horse's shoulder, making the other squeal and back away quickly. Apollo followed up his attack with a flurry of front hooves at Jesse and the other horse's head.

"Apollo! Jesse, sometimes you can be very stupid! ANd she's INSANE! Whoa! Apollo!"

Jean

Jesse honestly considered leaving her there to die, but, sighing, he hoised her up on Mirabelle, who was plenty irritated at Apollo, and rode up to the mansion. He carried Lois into the school, and down to the medlabs.

"Some crazy reporter tried to sneak into the school, and met the mean side of Octavian's horse," Jesse told Jean.

"Go get Melissa. THe sonner we can throw her out of here, the better." Jean agreed. The 19-year-old healed the reporter who was quickly escorted off the premises and asked not to return again.
