Nathan & Lindsey

Nathan hummed slightly, walking up the path to Lindsey's apartment building. He settled in under a tree that overhung the driveway to wait for the lawyer to come home from his office. RK curled up next to him and the lunatic scratched the cat's ears idly as the sun dropped away below the horizon.

By the time Lindsey walked up the path, he was fuming. His hand was whiteknuckled around the handle of his briefcase and he was barely restraining from grinding his teeth. Damn that arrogant know it all scarred son of a bitch. He had laughed at the man when he had been told that he would soon be taking a trip to the city of Angel, to talk about a demonic clan war because a Shadowed Champion had marked his Mate as if they belonged to the Coriean demonic race. Not smart.

Corieans were 6 foot tall walking razor blades, with a near immunity to magic and more or less indestructible by any other means. They were bipedal with two hands, two feet, two eyes, a nose and a mouth. They looked almost human...until they let themselves morph into a walking steel nightmare.

And William the f*cking Bloody had made them angry.

To the point where they were considering swearing revenge on the entire Aurelius clan.

The lawyer walked up the driveway to his apartment building and glared at Nathan.

"You knew, you prick."

"I had seen it, yes," Nathan agreed.

"I'll meet you in the city of Angel, in the den of the Beasts. Wolf. Ram. Hart. Three beasts. And someone RK wants to see. Two someones."

RK butted his head against Nathan's fingers before the mutant stood.

"Goodbye, Champion."

Lindsey's hand tightened around his front door key as Nathan walked away, so that after the Seer had disappeared from sight, he found he had cut bloody grooves into the palm of his hand.
