Natalia

Natalia huddled in the corner of the ward, hugging her knees to her chest. The insane babble of the inmates with her echoed in her ears, the stench of them in her nose, tormenting her superior senses. The walls pressed in on her, making her feel like she was about to scream, squashing down on the feeling and closing it up in a tiny tight ball in her throat and chest, hate, fear and anger all coiling around each other in a small black knot.

He was dead. Her Mate, her only, her knight, her saviour, her anchor in a world that had hurt her time and time again. Dead. Bloodily, violently dead. At least she hadn't had to watch him die, like she'd had to watch Tom die. At least she had his child growing beneath her hands.

But it wasn't enough! She wanted him!

Natalia threw her head back and howled, feeling the moon's near birth crawling over skin like ants, feeling the loss of Ewan's steadying presence like a hole in her heart and mind. She was treading so close to the same dizzying abyss that had swallowed her in the labratories and she almost welcomed it. If she hadn't been with child, she would have fallen into it happily, letting it take her memories, take everything and let her die, even if her body kept living.

Her despairing wail echoed through the pyschiatric ward of the hospital, silencing any conversation for a few moments as the anguish in her voice made them fall silent.

She would get out of here, tomorrow night, when it was the full moon. ANd then she would go and find Taylor, and kill him. Kill him for killing her Mate. And then she'd have to run again, because the hunters would be hunting. She didn't have Ewan anymore to help her...pregnant, alone and hunted by any werewolf hunter who saw her, and probably any Pack who decided she'd make a good addition to their breeding lines.

Oh god.

Natalia put her hands over her face and wept.
