1 April 2004 - Signing the divorce papers

Written by Michelle, Nessa and Tegan

Zac

Zac arrived at the mansion and immediately went looking for Faith.

He didn't want a divorce.

He didn't want a divorce.

Damn it, why was she doing this? He thought she loved him. Zac loved her. Loved her more than anything or anyone in the world.

Why?

Faith and Bobby

Faith was walking with Bobby as they left the Danger Room, the teen complaining he thought she'd broken his wrist.

"Oh it's not broken, you can still move it," Faith said, showing no sympathy.

"But look, it just hangs there!" Bobby exclaimed.

"I see no difference," she replied.

"Bitch," he muttered.

"What was that?"

"Nothing."

Faith rolled her eyes.

"Look, go down to the medlabs, and get it bandaged, if you think that'll help you. Maybe Dr McCoy will give you a lollipop, you big baby."

Bobby stuck his tongue out at Faith.

"I like lollipops. Why don't you go to your room and see Logan, and he'll give you something to suck on."

Faith vindictively twisted his wrist to the side, and he screamed in pain.

"Yeah, think twice, won't ya, snowball?"

Bobby muttered something under his breath and went down to the medlabs.

Faith grinned to herself and headed for the caf.

Zac

Hmm... where could Faith be?

Zac sincerely hoped she wasn't in Logan's bedroom. He was not wiling to hunt down which one that was.

He should ask someone. The caf was probably a good spot to try, so to the caf he headed.

Faith and Rebekah

Faith walked into the caf and grabbed a bottle of water, then flipped a chair backwards and sat down near Rebekah.

"How was the Danger Room?" Rebekah asked.

"Good. Bobby's complaining of broken bones, and so he's gone to whinge to Hank."

Zac

Zac stepped into the caferteria and looked around.

"Faithy!" He yelled upon spotting his estranged wife.

Jubilee & Logan

Jubilee snickered as Logan's head snapped up. They'd been sitting together, just hanging like they hadn't done for a while, and Jubilee liked it without the Faith.

"Yo, keep it down, man!" Jubilee said.

"Jubilee..."

"Why do people always say my name like I'm in trouble? Later, Wolvie. I got an essay to do for English."

Jubilee got out and bladed away, jumping a table and landing in a skitter of wheels before she zigzagged out past Zac, snickering at him on her way out.

"Man oh man, I wish I could watch this, but got schoolwork to do. Da-mn!"

"Jubes, no blading in the halls!"

"Watch me, old man!"

Jubilee jumped, blading backwards as she landed and made a face at Logan before she zipped out of sight.

Faith and Rebekah

Faith looked up and looked almost annoyed.

"Won't take a minute," she said to Rebekah.

Rebekah nodded and turned to Jono.

"Ouch."

Faith walked over to Logan.

Zac

Zac raced over to Faith even as she joined Logan's side.

"Faithy?" he asked softly. "I... I wanted to talk to you about... about..."

He couldn't even say the word.

Jonothon & Logan

"I don't like wot she's doing," Jonothon told Rebekah plainly.

"She should have broke it off with him before she took it up with Logan."

Logan cracked his knuckles slightly, rising from his seat.

Rebekah and Faith

"Per'aps there are things we do not know, but oui, I agree with you."

Rebekah leaned on Jono's shoulder.

"So, are we to listen and have my head in pain while murderous feelings keep rising, or shall we retreat to somewhere quiet?"

Faith closed her eyes for a moment, and put her hand on Logan's arm.

"Zac, there isn't actually anything to discuss."

Zac

"That's easy for you to say," Zac said. "You're the one who left. Damn it, Faith, if you didn't... if things... Argh."

He threw up his hands in the air as he attempted to find the words.

"We've... our relationship has been on and off from the beginning. I guess... I guess what I'm asking is... are... are you sure this is what you want? Are you sure that there's no... no hope for us?"

"I'm not going to cry," Zac thought. "I'm not going to cry."

Jonothon, Logan & Kanika

"Let's go. I don't want to watch this."

Jonothon took her hand and started to lead her out of the caf.

Logan watched Zac carefully, then lit up his cigar, holding it clamped between his teeth in a corner of his mouth. He looked at Faith, lifting an eyebrow and waiting for her to make her move.

"Want me to stay or go, Faith? Let ya get this sorted out."

"DAD! DROP DEAD FRED IS BACK!"

Kanika scampered towards Logan then jumped at him. He caught her easily and she looked up at him.

"He's ba-ack."

"Oh, that's great, baby girl," Logan said wryly.

"Oh YEAH!"

Rebekah and Faith

Rebekah held onto Jono's hand tightly as they left.

Faith put her hand on Logan's arm for a moment.

"You can stay."

She sighed and looked at Zac, biting her lip slightly.

"Zac... this is what I want. I think I can definitely tell you that there... there's no hope."

Zac

Zac swallowed, still trying to hold back the tears, and pulled out the divorce papers he had received. He stared at them a good look while before putting them down on the nearby table.

"You... you sure?" he asked again.

Logan

Logan stared at him for a few moments, regret in his eyes.

"I'm sorry it was like this for you, kid."

Faith

Faith was quiet for a moment, looking at the floor.

"I... I'm sure... it's not right to drag this out and give you false hope. I'm sorry, Zac."

Zac

Zac gulped, chewed his lip and slowly pulled out a pen. He was sorely tempted not to sign. If he didn't sign, legally she'd still be his. He wouldn't have to let go.

But if... if Faith couldn't be happy with him... Zac loved her too much to want to see her sad (let alone angry with him).

Reluctantly, Zac signed the first page, then rushed through the last of them. He straighened up, then flung the pen at Logan's head (not actually consciously aiming it there, mind you).

"There you go," he said bitterly. "You're free of me now. I hope you're happy."

He started to back away.

"I hope I never see you again."

He ran from the caf.

Rachel

A rather pregnant Rachel saw a very upset Zac darting through the halls.

"Zac?" she called out, waddling over to him. "What's wrong, Hun?"

Zac

Zac barely looked at Rachel.

"Please just... just don't talk to me right now," he said. "I just got divorced."

He felt like the mansion was pressing in on him. He had to leave before he suffocated.

Logan

LOgan reacted instinctively, claws jutting out from his hand to slice the pen into several pieces as it headed towards him before it hit. He panted, stopping the deadly blades only millimeters from Faith's skin.

"Damn."

The claws disappeared into his hand with a slicing sound.

Faith

Faith watched Zac go, then with glistening eyes, she ran from the caf.
