Khaos and Gwen
Khaos sighed as she made a decision. She'd been watching Mordred for a month, and he didn't appear to be getting any better. So she would break her rule of not interfering too much, and grant his wish again. Forever.
~*~*~*~
Gwen's eyes opened and she gasped in a loud breath. She turned her head, straining her eyes in the total darkness. Panicking, she writhed around, and found she couldn't move, and began to feel out the box she was in. She made a small noise of fear as she started scratching around her, before hitting up hard, breaking a hole through the thick wood. Dirt fell on her from above and she kept kicking and hitting until she had made a hole large enough to try and get herself through. She grunted slightly with the effort, turning her head and hald closing her eyes to keep the dirt from them. She took in a laboured breath, squeezing through the hole and grazing the entire left side of her body.
She collapsed onto the grass and squinted in the sudden light. Though it was hot, she was shivering from fear. She slowly got to her feet after what seemed like hours, but had really only been minutes. Taking in her surroundings, she wandered aimlessly, following her instincts to take her to a place that was so familiar, and yet, she couldn't quite place why.
Gwen looked up at the large house she'd made her way too. Again, she knew it was familiar, and she knew there had to be a reason why she chose this house, but nothing was making sense. She lifted a bruised, splintered and bloodied up hand and slapped at the door, hoping the answers would soon be revealed.
Mordred
Mordred started from sleep, eyes opening wide. Faolan growled unappreciatively as his father got up from the couch, displacing the kitten from his lap.
The teen went to the door and opened it. He just blinked in shock for a few moments, unable to believe.
"...Gwen?"
Gwen
Gwen turned her head to the side slightly, looking at him with wide eyes of confusion.
"I... I'm sorry to bother you..."
Her voice was shaky and timid.
Mordred
"Oh god...Gwen..."
Mordred blinked back tears, feeling like the world had dropped out beneath him. The lack of food and decent sleep caught up with him and he abruptly fainted.
Gwen
Gwen looked down blankly at Mordred, not knowing what to do. She reasoned with herself that she couldn't exactly leave him like that, lying in the hot sun, so she stepped over him and tried to pull him back into the house.
Faolan
Faolan got up and stretched, before going to see what was keeping Mordred. He blinked his mismatched eyes, staring at Gwen.
Oh...goddess.
He stalked over to her and brushed up against her legs, purring.
Gwen
Gwen looked down at Faolan and reached to pet him.
"Hello little cat," she said softly, then straightened up and looked around.
Still seemed familiar...
Faolan
Faolan pressed the door closed with his head, and looked up at her before licking Mordred's cheek. Yep, his father was out cold.
Gwen
Gwen wandered around slowly, taking in her surroundings. Flashes of a life hit her as she walked, running her fingers through her hair.
"Mum?!" Eavan cried, jumping up from the couch.
"MUM!" Bryant exclaimed.
Faolan
"I don't think she remembers," Faolan told the twins.
He zoomed upwards into his human form and went to get the first aid kit for her hands.
Gwen
Gwen looked around again, then went back over to Mordred. She bent down and hissed in a breath as as touched the grazed skin on her side, and she reached out and touched Mordred's face.
"I know you..." she said softly.
Eavan and Bryant watched, looking confused.
Mordred & Faolan
Mordred snapped out of sleep, teeth bared as he grabbed her wrist hard and eyes mostly out of it. He blinked and let go abruptly.
"God, I'm sorry, Gwen..."
Faolan sniffed as he reentered, carrying the first aid kit.
"Explanations and expositions later. Looking after Mum now."
Gwen
Gwen scrambled back slightly, away from Mordred, breathing heavily.
She rubbed her wrist, and looked around the house again, still shivering.
Mordred & Faolan
"God, Gwen, I'm so sorry..."
Mordred bit his lip as he took the first aid kit from Faolan and moved towards Gwen cautiously.
"Let me bandage your hands."
Gwen
Gwen nodded slightly, then her eyes went back to her frantic study of the house.
"Who..." her voice was hoarse.
"Who am I?"
Mordred
"Ah..."
Mordred started to clean her hands carefully and as gently as he could.
"Your name is Gwen. You're my wife. Eavan and Bryant are our kids, and Faolan is mine."
Gwen
Gwen looked at him for a long moment, wincing occasionally as her hands stung.
"Why... why was I in the ground?"
Eavan and Bryant started to make their way over slowly.
Mordred
Mordred started to wrap her hands carefully, smoothing antiseptic cream over them.
"You died. I buried you."
Gwen
Gwen turned her face away, lowering her eyes to the ground.
"I do know you... I just... it's all..."
Mordred
"We'll help you get it back," Mordred promised.
He lifted her chin slightly and brushed his lips over hers.
Gwen
Gwen moved into his arms and rested her head on his shoulder.
"Da? What's wrong with her?" Bryant asked.
Mordred
Mordred held Gwen gently.
"Dying can't be a good thing to go through, sweetie. She's hurt inside."
"Shhh, I got ya, cariad," Mordred murmured to her.
Gwen
Gwen pulled back suddenly.
"I... I'm dirty, I need..."
Mordred
"A shower," Mordred said.
He got to his feet, lifting her easily.
"What happened, do you know?"
He started to carry her upstairs.
Gwen
Gwen started to breathe heavily, and tears welled up in the bottom of her eyes.
"I don't remember... I'm trying, but it's... it's blank..."
Mordred
"Don't force it," Mordred insisted softly.
He brushed a thumb across her cheeks, wiping away the tears.
"It will come in time. If it does."
Gwen
Gwen closed her eyes for a moment.
"Why... why are you helping me?"
Mordred
"Because I love you," Mordred said softly.
"I love you so much I nearly died with you. If it wasn't for the kids, I would have, just from the pain of losing you."
Gwen
Gwen ran a finger over his jaw.
"I remember you. I loved you. I... I still do, I just... I'm so lost."
Mordred
Mordred bent his head and kissed her finger as he walked into their room and through to the bathroom. He put her down carefully, then reached into the shower to turn it on.
Gwen
Gwen looked around the bathroom, and she squinted slightly, tilting her head as she remembered something.
"Why weren't we able to see the signs that we missed..."
She stopped, looking confused.
Mordred
"To turn the tables, I wish you'd unclench your fists and unpack your suitcase..." Mordred sang on.
"You remember..."
Gwen
Gwen nodded slowly.
"Mordred, I..."
She paused.
"I love you."
Mordred
"I love you forever, mo cariad," Mordred said softly.
He kissed her gently.
"Shower's ready."
Gwen
Gwen kissed him back, then looked at the shower blankly.
"I don't... I can't..."
Mordred
Mordred licked his lips slightly, thinking, then started to undress her slowly. When she was nude, he pushed her slightly towards the shower.
"Get in under the water," he told her softly.
Gwen
Gwen stepped under the water and colsed her eyes, letting the dirt wash off from the spray.
Mordred
Mordred stripped and stepped into the shower with her. He picked up the soap and started to clean her gently.
Gwen
Gwen turned and stood still, looking at her feet.
Mordred
"What's the matter, Gwen?" Mordred asked gently.
His hand moved across her body lightly.
Gwen
"Nothing."
Gwen turned back to look at him, then kissed him softly.
Mordred
Mordred kissed her back, hand stilling for a moment.
"Love you."
Gwen
"I love you too."
Gwen put her arms around his neck and she leaned on his shoulder.
Mordred
Mordred held her tightly to him.
"God, Gwen, I missed you so much..."
Gwen
Gwen kissed his shoulder lightly.
"Oh..."
Mordred
Mordred's shoulders shook slightly as he held onto her tighter, almost to the point of bruising.
"Oh god, Gwen..."
Gwen
"What's wrong?"
Gwen ran a hand over his hair gently.
Mordred
"Everything's fine now you're back," Mordred said in a broken voice.
"God, I missed you..."
Gwen
"I missed you too..."
Gwen furrowed her eyebrows.
"Amin liy?"
Mordred
"Elvish," Mordred murmured to her.
"Legolas would be so upset if you forgot him. Nancy prancing elf."
Gwen
Gwen rested her head on his shoulder again.
"It's all coming back, slowly."
Mordred
"Healing takes time," Mordred said.
"Ready to get out yet?"
Gwen
"Yeah."
Gwen looked around again, still feeling out of place.
Mordred
Mordred helped her out of the shower and then started to dry her off. He kissed her shoulder lightly, rubbing the towel firmly but gently across her body.
Gwen
Gwen waited until she was dry and had the towel wrapped around her, then wandered out in their bedroom.
Mordred
Mordred dried himself off with a new towel.
"Your clothes are still in the closets...I couldn't get rid of them. So everything's still here."
Gwen
Gwen opened her drawer and sorted through her things.
"I didn't... didn't believe in underwear, did I?"
Mordred
"No, not really," Mordred said.
"You said it got in the way of important things."
Gwen
Gwen half smiled at that, and slipped on a pair of loose sweat pants, and then a singlet.
"I'm sorta hungry."
Mordred
"There's food downstairs...I'll get ya something to eat."
Mordred dressed then led her downstairs again. He went to the fridge and rummaged through it.
Gwen
Gwen went into the living room and sat on the couch, Eavan and Bryant cautiously moving over to her.
Mordred
Mordred started to make something for Gwen to eat.
"Want something to drink?"
Gwen
Gwen looked up.
"Um... yes."
Eavan smiled at Gwen and hopped into her lap.
Mordred
Mordred bought her the plate of food and a drink.
"Here."
He smiled at Eavan.
Gwen
Gwen started to eat slowly and quietly, her eyes still wandering around the house.
"Da, will she be ok?" Eavan asked.
Mordred
"I think so. We'll have to wait and see," Mordred said quietly to his daughter.
"Is that ok, Gwen? The food?"
Gwen
"Yeah, thanks."
Gwen finished and put the plate on the table, sipping from her drink.
"She looks scared," Bryant chimed in.
Mordred
"It'll be alright," Mordred insisted as much for himself as for them.
He picked up Gwen's plate and went to wash it up.
Gwen
Gwen stood up and walked to the backdoor. She opened it and stepped outside, breathing in the fresh air, and looking around the backyard.
"Da, she's outside."
Mordred
"That's ok, she's allowed to be outside," MOrdred said.
"Why don't you two go keep her company?"
Gwen
Gwen wandered around the yard looking dazed, and Eavan and Bryant followed her around, occasionally pointing out things, and telling her stories about when they'd been there together.
Faolan
Faolan walked out to the yard and gleefully pounced in the patch of catnip that was growing with some other herbs.
"Mum, are you going to stay this time?"
Gwen
Gwen looked at the kitten in surprise, then blinked a few times.
"Yes. I think."
Faolan
"Oh good. Maybe you can make Dad eat regularily. He's been getting behind on that. And sleep. And smiling."
Faolan rolled luxouriously through the aromatic herb, buzzing with pleasure.
"Glad to have you back, Mum."
Gwen
Gwen smiled slightly, and then headed for inside.
Ok, being out in the open was scary.
Mordred
"Y' alright, cariad?" Mordred asked gently.
"Need some sleep?"
Gwen
Gwen shook her head.
"No... yes, no. I mean, I'm alright. But I don't need sleep."
She sighed slightly.
Mordred
"So, want you want to do?" Mordred asked gently.
"Movie? Play a video game?"
Gwen
Gwen shrugged.
"Movie?"
Mordred
"'K..."
They settled on the couch and Mordred flicked through their DVD collection.
"Any suggestions?"
Gwen
"Anything."
Gwen hopped up and unfolded the couch bed thing.
Mordred
"Ok..."
Mordred put a DVD on and then got up next to her. He put an arm around her waist gently, then grabbed the remote so he could start the movie.
Gwen
Gwen rested her head on his chest and closed her eyes for a long moment.
God, why did it hurt to be back...
Mordred
Mordred held her as they watched the movie through. This was probably a trick...but he'd hold onto it desperately while it lasted. He brushed a kiss across her forehead and then put another movie in.
