Clarissa

Having induced Mouse into a dreamless sleep with her empathy, if only for fifteen or so minutes, Clarissa rang Steel.

He'd want to know. He always wanted to know if something big happened. And this was pretty damn big.

She winced slightly as she thought about what he was going to say. It wasn't going to be a fun chat. At all.

Kirk

Kirk gave his friend a high five before hearing his phone ring.

"One sec Jake."

He grabbed his phone as he left the room, checked the screen, then answered.

"Yo Riss babe, what's up?"

Clarissa

"Something happened," Clarissa said slowly.

"Something extremely not of the good and please don't yell into the phone, my hearing's damaged enough as it is. The wolf was shot by a sniper today, and Mouse has gone more then slightly insane for the duration due to the empathic bond breaking so violently and unexpectedly."

Clarissa waited for the inevitable explosion, waiting to rip the phone away from her ear.

Kirk

"What. The. FUCK?!"

Kirk ran his fingers through his hair and paced shortly, stopping to slow his breathing.

He raised his eyebrows.

"And you know who did this?" he asked in a deceptibly mild tone.

Clarissa

Clarissa winced again.

"Telepathic block or a telepath themself. Or they've been talking to Magneto. Cold blooded, no emotion to pick up...bullet through the bedroom window before I caught even a flicker. And that was just job well done satisfaction."

She twitched slightly.

"Hired hand. My bet is on either Blakesley or the winged woman. And they're both working for the same person now. The question is, did they do it alone, or with her approval?"

Kirk

"That doesn't matter right now," Kirk insisted, his voice making obvious his frustration.

"I want you guys out of that house. We can move you somewhere where they won't find you. I'd take you underground but there are certain... projects happening right now."

Clarissa

"If you can get her out of the bedroom," Clarissa said.

"She won't let us take the body either. But we should be alright until you find a new place."

Kirk

"Riss, you know me," Kirk put a hand on his chest seeming offended.

"I can have a few lined up in minutes. And Bee can get her out of the room. If she's not in her right state of mind - which it sounds like she definately isn't - then we have no choice but to force her. She's not gonna like it, but I'm not leaving her there to rot. And if Bee doesn't do it, someone else will."

Clarissa

"Give her a few days to mourn," Clarissa said quietly.

"Forcing her out at this point in time may do irrepearable damage to her mind. Give me two, three days. Boost the security."

Kirk

Kirk put his right hand on his hip and ground his teeth for a moment.

"I want her out of that room Riss, or this is going to drag on forever. You have three days. I'll get Carl and his boys onto it."

He hung up, then swore.

Clarissa

Clarissa carefully put the phone back down.

Well, that had gone better then she had thought it would.
