8 March 2004 - Ticked off

Julie

Julie's things from home - or former home - had arrived and she was seriously ticked off.

It had been almost two weeks since she had been told they would be sent to her, and not everything was there. Her father probably had the missing pieces thrown out or sold, the stingy bastard.

She kicked the foot of her bed. She should have known her parents cleaning out her room was a recipie for disaster. What was the betting that her life size cardboard image of Worf was in her little brothers room? She knew he always wanted it. Little turd. And what about her fake jewellery? Little sister probably had that. Did it ever occur to them that she might want those things still? That she might still think Worf was a spunk (even if he was only a man wearing a lot of latex?) and she might want to give the jewellery to her daughter one day to play with? And that was only the tip of the iceberg.

At least they sent her the rest of her books. She was surprised they didn't sell them to the local book exchange to save on postage - after all, she did have quite a number of them, and books weren't exactly light.

Nonetheless, she still felt betrayed. She loved her children. And even if she hadn't been planning on getting pregnant again (at least, not so soon) she still wanted this baby. Who were they to get mad at her? Who were they to disown her just because they didn't like what species the father was? (Which made Julie wonder what they would have thought if they had known Zac was an alien!)

Fine.

If they didn't want anything to do with her, or with their own grandchildren, then so be it. She wouldn't have anything to do with them either. In fact, she vowed, by the end of the year her last name would not be Williams. One way or another, she would change it, and right now she didn't even care to what it was changed. And B'Elanna and Tom's last name would change too. She knew it would probably be expensive, as legalities usually were, but she didn't care. Since the twins had been born, she had been very careful in how she used her money.
