Back to the Rabbit Hole

Christian

Christian frowned as he spoke with a friend in Toronto on a public phone.

"Jesse is in jail?" he fumed.

"Yeah man. They took him in last month. Rory ratted on him, and now he's in deep s#!t."

Christian clenched his fist as he hesitated.

"Do you know where Rory is now?"

Christian's sunglasses hid his look of determination as he skidded his bike outside the Rabbit Hole. As soon as he saw the surrounding streets coming in he remembered his last visit.

Well this one would be a lot different, that was for sure.

He stopped the bike and pushed his sunglasses up onto his head. The spider pendant he wore bounced against the muscle shirt he wore as he made his way to the door and inside.

Without much interference, he made his way into the eating area and began looking around for Rory.

Alice.

"Hello, good evening, hello, hello, hello," Alice sort of sing songed as she danced her way through the crowd.

She twirled her way past a face she didn't recognise and started her spiel.

"No fighting, no biting, no feuding, no feeding. The Rabbit Hole is neutral ground. Whoever you see you hate, you take it outside and down the street. Or be banned and disbarred! Oh!"

She halted and peered at his face, lifting up his shades.

"Darkling! New look, I see. How sweet. And very, very you. I like the pendant. Like rosemary for memory? Death, thy heir is here to take up thy sword. Beware, enemies of the heir, beware."

Christian

Christian frowned and stepped back.

"Looking for someone. Rory Munce. I believe he's bunking here."

Alice.

"Even if he is here," Alice said slowly.

"I can't give him to you, and you're not allowed to fight here. Even the Spider respected my club. You'd be best advised to do so as well. You're not so full grown, little wolf cub, that you can buck the rules of Pax. Best you test your milkteeth eslewhere. Even if your prey is here, you aren't allowed to get him out of here by force."

Christian

"Well if I'm not allowed to take him anywhere, I'll kill him while he's here," Christian amended.

"Excuse me."

He stepped past her and began searching around the general area.

Alice.

"Annoyance!" Alice declared.

She stalked after him and pointed her finger at his feet.

"Stone! Because diamonds are a girl's best friend..."

His feet turned to diamonds.

"Now. No killing. No fighting. No bleeding, no bruising, no beating, no cutting. Heed the rules or get out."

Most of the club's patrons eyes swivelled to Alice as she lifted her chin and the tone of the club turned dark. If Christian tried anything against Alice, most of them would jump him and kill him.

Christian

Christian let out a sound of pure frustration.

"The f#!+ing rat sent my best friend to jail. You think I'm going to let that go lightly?!" he exclaimed.

He pointed a finger at her.

"You get on my bad side, and you know you are digging your own grave. If I don't walk out of here within ten minutes, everyone I know within a hundred mile radius will storm through that door."

Alice.

"I don't care what he's done or who you are, how many friends you think you have or what power you have," Alice retorted.

"The Rabbit Hole is a freehold. A neutral zone. Get him out, Max."

She changed his feet back to normal and Max came forward silently.

"You can leave now, instead of in ten minutes, you rude impudent child."

Christian

"I am, really, not in the mood to be f#!+ed with right now," Christian insisted with a frown, making sure Max couldn't get near him.

"Just tell me where he is, and I will take this outside. And leave everyone here to get on with their lives. I don't mind if other people have to die to get my point across."

Alice.

"He's not here," Alice hissed through her teeth, the scales on her cheeks glittering with anger.

Her eyes glowed with crystalline light.

"He hasn't been here for over a year. You, are not welcome. Leave before I turn you into diamond, like that fool over there."

A careless wave of her hand indicated a frozen statue glittering in the lights of the club.

"I would have helped you if you had not threatened me and disrespected the rules of my club. They're very simple. If you ever darken my doors again, I will have you killed on sight. Unless you're crawling behind one of my customers on a leash. You'd have done well to have listened to Craig better then you obviously did."

She tilted her head slightly.

"Get out."

Christian

"You know what?" Christian began, the frown not leaving his face, "so far I haven't hurt anyone. May have threatened to, but I haven't. Now how unusual is that for me?"

He pulled his trench coat up onto his shoulders a little.

"I was told by a reliable source that he was here. If he isn't, then I have no business here."

He dipped a fake hat, then turned to leave.

Alice.

A slight girl ran to Alice, eyes a deep sea blue and white hair drifting around her shoulders. Her voice was subtle and soft, like waves rolling over stones on a beach.

"Calm thyself, my precious crystal eyed one. Shh, shh..."

She kissed Alice, stroking the other girl's magenta hair between her fingers. Alice looked back over at Christian, eyes thoughtful.

"Two months bar. Oh, and a tidbit of infomation to send you on your way. The mutant Sabretooth has Christina, who is still pregnant with your child. Last anyone heard, they were in Houston in the ruined labs. They may still be there."

"Calm waters, fair winds to thy sail, Banrigh," Alice's lover said, smiling and showing needlesharp teeth. (King)

"Psk, psk, Safety..." Alice murmured, tapping her fingers against a plastic tube that ran through the bar.

The mouse squeaked at her, then scurried on. Alice smiled slightly.

"If you find them, try hard not to kill Christina. Sabretooth, kill on sight. He's a nasty wily old bastard and he has a longrunning feud with most of the people I happen to like. Don't give him even a flicker of a chance, or he'll kill you. That, I'm just telling you because I like your pretty eyes."

Christian

Christian hesitated, turned back, and lifted his sunglasses onto his head again so that they could see his eyes.

"I have no business with Christina at the moment," he said, "but if the child makes it through the pregnancy, I will personally be hunting it. Sabertooth... I have met. If I see him, I will kill him. I'd love to see him try and touch me right now."

Alice.

"What place has a child in politics?" Alice sighed to herself.

"If the child reaches full term, rest assured, you will *never* find it."

"The Banrigh must have an heir, or all is naught and the succession is threatened."

The blonde girl eyed him for a moment.

"Thee carry the seeds of destruction for all. Shame thou art so ill mannered and hot tempered. I wilt wait for thee, my beloved once thou hast rid thy establishment of this one. Though, he does have pretty eyes."

She kissed Alice again and then walked away.

Christian

Christian tilted his head to the side a little.

"I have a lot to learn yet," he said, while tapping the red gem in the spider pendant.

He stood up straight and replaced his sunglasses over his eyes.

"Until I find Rory, you will neither see nor hear from me for two or three months."

He gave a small salute, then walked out the door.

Alice.

Alice watched him leave, then turned to tend to her club.

"So, what can I getcha? Kool-Aids good today..."

Christian

Christian picked his bike up and stepped over onto it.

He looked around for a moment, before starting it and beginning down the road.

Not far down, he passed his first car. Slowing a little, he recognized who the driver was instantly.

He pulled the bike to a stop as the car drove past, and watched after it.

Suddenly, the car careered off the road, flew over a ditch, and into a tree.

What a shame.

Christian revved the bike, and took off again.
