Dawn and Clark
It was Valentine's Day, a little over a year from when Dawn and Clark had started dating when they decided to take it to the next level. They had just made love, and taken each other's virginity when the changes occurred. A flash went off in their ice house, and they both rose about a foot off the bed.
Inside Kal-El's head, Jor-El was speaking to his son, telling him what he must do, and what he must become. It was at that moment that he knew he must become Superman. Next to him, Dawn was undergoing a transition of her own.
For an instance, Dawn Summers did not exist. Only the Key remained, a ball of glowing green energy. Instantaneously, Dawn reappeared, only changed. Her hair, instead of its normal light brown was now blood red, and her eyes were completely green, with no white and no pupil. The two lovers fell back onto the bed in exctasy.
"What just happened?" Dawn asked.
"I'm not sure, but I feel different, do you?" she nodded.
"I heard my birth father's voice inside my head. I have all the memories now, of life on Krypton, all of the oral and written traditions. As the lone survivor, I'm now the protector of all the memories that remain. It's odd"
"Memories," Dawn said. "I have real memories. Not just the fake ones the monks put in there, but real ones. From when the Key came into existence, until the monks captured me and held me in a sphere. And from then, I remember the monks. They were so good, and kind," she said with a smile. "Whatever traces of Glory were in me, they're gone now, you've cleansed me," she said, rolling over and kissing him.
"Dawn, we need to go soon."
"I know. I think we need to go to New York. We should finish school, at least, but I don't want to live in the mansion. Not after living alone with you for a month and a half."
"Dawn, for whatever reason, something big happened tonight. Do you know what it was?"
"I think we've been bonded. Our destiny has changed, can't you feel it? I can feel you on the edge of my mind. Whatever we have to accomplish in our lives, it's going to be together."
"I can feel you too. Okay, this is how I see it. You have money from the Watcher's Council, right?" Dawn nodded.
"And Lex and I have kept in touch, he was in Paris when the explosion happened. I'm going to email him, and see if he can help us out."
"Okay. We need to leave, soon though. Our time here is finished, can't you sense it?"
"I can. Okay, you pack up all the things we have, and I'll try and get in touch with Lex." Dawn went and started to pull together their meager belongings, and Clark managed to get in touch with Lex Luthor, the only other survivor from a place that used to be called Smallville, Kansas.
"Okay, there's a house waiting for us on Gaylor Road, in Scarsdale, New York. Apparently Lex just acquired it, and he was going to sell it, but we can stay there for the time being, until we figure everything out."
"Scarsdale, as in, Westchester county?"
"Yep. Not far from the school."
"Cool, lets get moved in."
"Magic or flying?"
"I'm in the mood to soar like the eagles, and we only have a knapsack each."
"Groovy." He wrapped his arms around her, and they flew off into the night, heading for for number 160, Gaylor Rd, Scarsdale, NY.
