Rachel was heading down to the medlab for her weekly check-up with Hank. SHe was walking through the infirmary, when she noticed Jule & Bobby watching cartoon.
"Julie!" she squealed, "You're awake! Oh, we were so worried!" She reached over and gently hugged her friend from Tulsa.
"How are you doing?"
Julie
"Hey," Julie smiled. "I'm good."
SHe put her finger to her lips.
"Quiet though, Bobby's fallen asleep."
Rachel
"Okay," Rach said, dropping her voice to a whisper. "I missed you. You've missed all the news. I'm having a girl, and I saw that doctor you and Zac reccomended-- Dr. Patterson? She figured out why I was hurting, and she healed it." Rach pulled up a chair.
"BUt how are you coping, Babe? If you just woke up, that must be hard to deal with."
Julie
"I think the biggest thing is coping with all the things that's happened," Julie replied. "I mean, a month's past, but it feels like just yesterday. Except I'm not sore any more. Well, for the most part anyway."
She chewed her lip.
"And hey I think the biggest news I have to deal with is that I'm pregnant. Again."
Bobby
"No, I haven't, but I was about to. And Julie, if you'd kinda put your hand back where it was a few moments ago, I will go to sleep."
Bobby grinned slightly.
Julie
Julie giggled and put her hand back.
"Better?" she teased.
Bobby
"Thank you my darling."
Bobby kissed her arm and closed his eyes again.
"Now I can sleep. Hey Rach. Night Rach."
Rachel
Rach grinnned.
"He's just. . . so cute. Anyways, So, you're pregnant again? Is that good or bad?" Rach asked. Hank walked over
"I'll let you catch up, but first, arm." Rachel grudgingly held out her arm while Hank took a vial of blood for her bi-monthly bloodwork.
"Crazy vampire-man," she complained, pouting. He gave her a purple band-aid, and she sat there with her arms crossed. "Meanie."
Julie
"Hmm, is pregnancy good or bad? Good question," Julie mused. "Well, I'm not sure I want to be pregnant right now, but I know when I hold this little baby in my arms I'll be disgusted with myself for not wanting to be."
She giggled, then sobered quickly.
"I think the worst part right now, is that I don't know who the father is. For real this time. And that's kind of scary, because I'm worried it might be Dirk. I mean, if Dirk never raped me, I probably wouldn't be concerned at all, but he did and I..."
Julie cut herself off as she could feel the tears start again. Damn it she wish she would stop crying!
Rachel
Rachel wrapped her arms around Julie and hugged her friend tightly. She remembered from when Jess was raped that the best thing to do was just listen. Hank walked by and stuck a thermometer in her mouth, and then walked away, leaving the girls alone again.
Octavian.
Octavian walked into the medlabs to talk to Bobby and Julie and hesitated slightly when he saw Rachel. Hmm. But still...Logan had dumped this box on him that had to go down to the medlabs.
"Hey," he greeted everyone casually, then walked through to Hank's office.
"Hank?"
"Yes?" Hank said, rising from his chair again.
He took the box from Octavian and stowed it near his desk.
"So what was I coerced into dragging down here on pain of pain?" Octavian asked.
"Twinkies."
"Ahhhhhh..."
Octavian nodded wisely, then went out to sit near Julie.
"And how is the most wonderful, gorgeous Julie today? And of course, sexy Bobby."
He nodded again.
"Because how could I forget sexy Bobby?"
Julie
Julie giggled through her tears.
"Gorgeous Julie is yet again, freaking out that the father is Dirk," she admitted. "And sexy Bobby's alseep. Shame, huh?"
Bobby
Bobby opened his eyes slowly.
"Hey Tav."
He rolled over slightly.
Rachel
Rachel smiled at Octavian around the thermometer and waved at him.
"eh-oh, Av," she said, trying not to laugh.
"Oh oo eep, Obby," Rach said around the thermometer, which started beeping, and Hank came over to read it.
"You're still running a bit of a fever in the evenings, Rach," Hank said. "Are you still excercising?"
"Yeah, not as vigorously. I've given up on the tumbling, but I'm still doing a lot of swimming."
"Good. No more bar work, Rachel. It wouldn't do at all to have a fall. So no more gymnastics. You can still do some aerobics, and keep up the swimming." Rach nodded.
"Sonogram time?"
"Yep." She climbed up on the cot next to Julie's, and Hank rolled over the sonogram machine. He lifted up her shirt to reveal her stomach, and rubbed the gel over it. She was five months and just starting to show. Hank started the sonnograma and grimaced.
"She looks fine, but the boils are coming back." Rach groaned.
"Not again. That is not fun time." Hank looked at Octavian.
"Tav, can you fetch Melissa? SHe's pretty good at healing things like this."
Octavian
Octavian pouted slightly at Hank.
"But, they're awake for once! At the same time! I want to talk to Julie and Bobby."
Hank gave him a look and Octavian got up and went to find Melissa, grumbling under his breath.
Julie
"Aww poor Tavie," Julie said. "Poor Rachy too. Poor everyone. Except Dr McCoy. He has his twinkies."
Julie giggled.
Bobby
"Can't sleep. You and Julie, so bloody loud."
Bobby mock grumbled.
Rachel and Melissa
Rach giggled. "Are you British now, Bobby? Methinks Tav has been a bad influence on you." She turned to Hank, "C'mon, Dr. McCoy, share the Twinkie wealth."
Before long, Tav came back with Melissa in tow. She laid her hands on Rachel's stomach, and the boils on the sonogram disappeared. THen she looked over at Bobby.
"You know, I can mends broken bones in a heartbeat. Are you sure you want to be in traction there?"
Hank.
"Perhaps it would be best if you save your energy for bigger things," Hank suggested.
"A broken bone is something humans recover from very easily. It just takes a while."
Bobby
"I like the drugs. And I like Tav and Julie doing things for me."
Bobby grinned cheekily.
"Man, shh, sleep!"
Julie
Julie giggled.
"Of course you do, Bobby," she said. "I'm sure you like doing stuff for us too. Sleepys now."
She lowered her voice and grinned at the others.
"Quiet now, Bobby's trying to sleep."
Melissa and Jean
Melissa laughed. "Okay. But, if it gets too much for you, just ask, and I'll mend you up as good as new." Melissa went over to visit with the Jamies who were dying. It broke her heart that she couldn't save them.
Jean came down to join her colleague. "And how are all out patients this evening?" SHe asked Hank.\
"Julie's up."
"Very cool. Tav," she said, nodding to the boy. "I know this makes me the big bad witch, but here's your school work," she said, placing a folder on both Bobby and Julie's bedside tables.
"Your homework done?" She asked Tav, her need to mother the whole school coming out.
Octavian.
"Yes," Octavian said shortly, then turned away.
He threw his shields up hard. Jean had bad telepathic habits.
"Bobby's supposedly sleeping. No good cartoons on?"
Julie
"Yeah," Julie nodded at Octavian.
Julie winced at the sight of the school work. She had only just woken up and look what she's greeted with.
"Don't worry Jean, you were the big bad witch long before now."
Jean
Jean smiled. "I know. That's what happens when you have to be a grown-up around a bunch of teenagers. Sometimes I just want to act like a little kid too," she said.
"Oh, do you want me to bring down Tom and B'E. I think they miss their mommy. They're in the playpen upstairs with Joyce."
Octavian.
Bored already, Octavian started to study Bobby's mouth. Hmm. He leant down and kissed the other teen lightly.
Maybe if they made this bad enough, the idiots would leave.
Julie
"Sure I'd like that," Julie smiled.
Her eyes fell on Octavian. He probably wouldn't.
Jean
Jean smiled at Tav. Oh but to be a teenager again.
"And at risk of being the Wicked Witch of the West again, Julie, but I'd like to run some bloodwork. Do some blood tests to see how you, and the baby are doing. I'm sure you know the drill?" Jean picked up a tourniquet, an alcohol swab and a syringe, and came over to Julie. Hank came over with a twinkie.
"I'll bribe you," he offered.
Jean telepathically asked one of the nannies to bring down Tom and B'E to the med lab.
"They'll be here in a minute," Jean said.
Julie
"Aww, but but... I only woke up," Julie replied, pouting. "And I only found out I was pregannt - again - today. Can't it wait until tomorrow? Pretty please?"
Octavian
"Be nice to the expectant mother," Octavian said.
Babies are awful things. I hate children."
Jean
Jean put on her best 'no-nonsense' doctor look, and Hank backed her up.
"It's just one vial," Hank said, "if you let her take the blood, you get a twinkie and your babies are on their way down. I'm also using your blood to work on finding antibodies to Rogue's power. It might be possible that we may be able to wake people up much faster. SO be a good girl, and stick it out."
Julie
"Hmph. There's no need to be condescending about it," Julie muttered.
Then she grinned at Octavian.
"You hate children?" she repeated, her eyes twinkling. "What happens if this baby is yours? It could be, y'know."
Jean
Jean smiled, and tied off Julie's arm, to get a vein. She drew one vial of blood, and then put a band-aid over it. The nanny came in a moment later.
"Perfect timing," Jean said. "I think these two missed you, Julie."
Octavian
"Darrrrrrling, that's what servants are for," Octavian said disdainfully.
He edged away from the children slightly.
"I turned out fine, so did Dem. Admittedly Dem more so then me, but there you are. I've always maintained that the female of the species is more stable."
Julie
Julie reached out for her twins.
"Thank you Meg," she said. "I hope they haven't been too much trouble."
"Not at all," Meg replied.
"Hey you two," Julie said to them. "Didja miss me? Yeah you did huh? Guess what! Mummy's going to have another baby. And what's more... Tavie's pedophobic. That's right. He's scared of children!"
