The younger Ryans, Gina, Peta and Harry had already unwrapped their presents and were happily playing by the time the older Ryans woke up. And at that, Karen and Brenton were still asleep when even Ivan and Libby woke to open their presents.
"Here you go Mr Snuggles," said Libby. "Here's your Christmas present."
"You got your pet a Christmas present?" Ivan snickered.
"I do it every year. So there," Libby said, poking her tongue out.
There was wrapping paper aplently strewn all over the place by the time that Mother and Father Ryan appeared.
"You kids," Karen smiled.
"Pressie!" Gina beamed, racing over to her mother. "This for you!"
Karen sat down, the smile bigger.
"I wonder what is could be," she said.
At last the only presents not yet unwrapped were those for Yvette and -
"Mitchel!" Brenton said, pleased as he opened the door. "Glad to see you."
"Like I could miss you at Christmas," Mitchel smiled.
He and Yvette (who was now living with Oliver, of course) brought in some presents with them. These too were soon unwrapped, as well as their presents to them, and the family soon settled down for a meal and to spend some quality family time together.
