The Fudge Gang

Written by Michelle

Isaac and Tad

"Uh huh," Isaac said. "Okay, sure, I'll tell him. Okay, yeah, bye."

Isaac jotted down the last of the message, and just as he was going to go upstairs to give said message to Taylor, the doorbell rang. He shoved the paper into his pocket and went for the door. There were two people standing there, neither of whom he knew.

"Hello?" he asked.

Tad paused in the hall and discreetly moved out of sight. He knew members of the Fudge Gang when he saw them. Or at least when they had their shoulders showing so you could see the tattoo. What were they doing here? He watched as the girl reached out a hand to shake Isaac's, and they started talking. From where he was he couldn't make much out of what they were saying:

"Hi... we're representing... Christian...... people. In this... our... to... need. Can we... donation..."

"Umm sure..." Isaac poked around in his pocket and handed them something. "All the... same."

The boy wrote down something and gave it to Isaac.

"Thank you... next..."

"Sure. Bye."

Isaac closed the door and started heading for the stairs. Every year without fail the donation seekers would come around, and always at Christmas time. Then Tad stepped out, just out of nowhere and Isaac nearly collided with him.

"Oh, hey Tad, know where Tay is? I have a message for him."

"Bedroom," Tad replied.

"Thanks."

Tad watched Isaac go upstairs, contemplating following and listening in. He should, but he couldn't afford to let Isaac know. Now they were mixed up with the Fudge Gang as well? And Christian too, by the sounds of things. Funding their misbegotten deeds too, although Tad would have thought that associating with the Fudge Gang would have been beneath Christian. Guess not.

It never occured to Tad that Isaac might have been suckered into their door-to-door charity scam.
