Whip sat in his computer class. He had long since separated himself from Mark - quickly understanding Julie's dislike. It appeared her dislike of Mark was universal. His new group of friends certainly didn't like him. Scott's toady, he was described as, and they complained that he was always spying on them. To make matters worse, they couldn't even catch him at it - his power being what it was.
Forge finished handing out the assignment for that lesson, asking that if any of them had any questions, not to be afraid to ask him.
Whip got to work. This was the best school he had ever been too, the fact that it was for mutants aside. He never thought boarding school could be this good. The food was edible (and depending on who was cooking, better than what he had at home). The teachers actually cared that you were able to understand the work. And he was always able to do his homework (such as it was) without being interupted all the time.
There was a knock on the door, and a tall, slender woman walked in. Whip believed her name was Shannon - he had seen her around before, but apparently she wasn't actually a student. She walked over to Forge's desk, gave him something and they had a quick conversations in low tones.
Mark looked at Shannon studiously. Why was it she always evaded his watchful eye? What was it that she did that seemed to prevent him from spying on her?
Shannon wasn't there very long. Whip had gone back to his work, but looked up when she left, and noticed Mark watching her. He wondered about the nasty expression on his face, and quickly turned back to him own work before Mark caught him staring.
