Catching up

Written by Michelle and AiMsTeR

Isaac

Isaac dialed Ashley Greyson's number. It had been ages since they had last spoken. Ages. They used to talk all the time.

"Hope you're home," he murmered to himself as the phone rang.

Ash

Ashley yawned as he lay sprawled out on the couch, home alone. He grumbled to himself when he heard the phone ring, but leant over and picked it up.

"Hello?" was his less than enthusiastic greeting.

Isaac

"Hi Ash," Isaac said cheerfully. "It's Ike here. How's things?"

He wondered if he had called at a bad time...

Ash

Ashley's eyebrows rose.

"Ike! Hey man, long time no talk," he smiled.

"What's doing? Mindy's over at her sister's place for the afternoon."

Isaac

"Oh not much. Just hanging out," Isaac said. "Had a band practice this morning, that was cool. Seriously hoping to go touring again soon, that's for sure."

Ash

"Really?" Ashley was surprised.

"So... you guys are kind of making amends then, huh?"

Isaac

"Yeah, I think so," Isaac said. "I think I'm getting back into my music writing zone, and Tay and Zac seem to be on better terms lately. So, hopefully."

Ash

Ashley stifled a laugh.

"Once upon a time I knew everything that was happening with you guys before even you did," he mused.

"But oh well. That's great, it really is. Have they said anything about touring?"

Isaac

"Well, no, not lately," Isaac admitted. "But I haven't brought it up in a while. I should. We have so mcuh material at the moment though, it's crazy."

Ash

"I'm not surprised," Ashley shrugged.

"I mean once you guys get on a roll, you're on a roll. Anything coming with a tour do you think? Though I guess you haven't really spoken to Zac or Tay about it..."

Isaac

"Well, not really. But seriously, if we could get on the road early next year..." Isaac grinned. "I'm really iching to go. In case you couldn't tell. But enough about me. How are things with you and Mindy?"

Ash

"Great," Ashley shrugged again.

"I've kept in contact with your Dad but he's about as much in the loop as I am as far as I know."

Isaac

Isaac winced.

"Yeah... we should keep him better up to date. But then, we're not really up to date ourselves," he admitted ruefully.

Ash

"Typical," Ashley rolled his eyes, then chuckled.

"Well it was great hearing from you. So you're definitely aiming for early next year for a tour?"

Isaac

"Yep," Isaac said.

He was sure that Taylor and Zac wouldn't have a problem with it. Besides, they needed to do something soon if they wanted to continue in the industry.

Ash

"Awesome. Electric, I'm guessing? In the States, or.. overseas?" Ashley asked.

Isaac

"Yeah, electric. And I hope we can go overseas," Isaac said. "I think the last time I went overseas was when I went to Australia to rescue Taylor from the Eye. Now that was ages ago."

Ash

"Hey, it was too," Ashley chuckled.

"Man. Anyway when you guys get organised, let your Dad know and we can start booking, you know."

Isaac

"Yeah I will," Isaac grinned. "Oh hey, see we've only been talking about it for a few minutes and I haven't even brought the subject up again with Tay and Zac and I'm already excited about it. Yay touring."

Ash

"Hey, you're not the only one," Ashley insisted.

"I mean I won't be with you overseas, obviously, but at least organising it will give me something to do with you guys."

Isaac

"Yeah. It kinda sucked that they cancelled all the YIRAAS events, now we can't even compete together in that any more," Isaac agreed.

Ash

"I guess they couldn't really do it with the treatys and all," Ashley shrugged.

"Besides, Sheldon's missing and apparently Taylor wouldn't be up to it. There'd be no one to greet people at the door."

That was almost a joke.

Isaac

"Yeah," Isaac said. "Taylor doesn't much like crowds these days."

He wondered if he should say anything about Sheldon being in 'protective custody', and decided against it. It wasn't really any of his business, despite Sheldon being his friend.

"I hope Sheldon's okay."

Ash

"Well I haven't spoken to him in an age, but yeah I do too," Ashley sighed.

"And Tay doesn't like crowds? Since when?"

Isaac

"Oh, well, perhaps it would be better to say crowds don't like him. I dunno... they're been wreaking havoc with his powers the last few months," Isaac suddenly felt awkward - he didn't know if he should tell Ash about the alterego thing. "Some sort of Blaksley aftermath thing I guess."

It was probably true.

Ash

"Ah," Ashley nodded, realising that was probably a sore spot.

"So umm... do you think he and Zac are as eager to tour as you are? Because depending when you talk to them we could even start booking in the next few days."

Isaac

"I don't know," Isaac admitted. "I hope so. Because that would be awesome. I'll talk to them soon, I will."

Ash

"Great!" Ashley grinned.

"Let us know as soon as you work it out, hey. Not that I'm desperate..."

Isaac

Isaac laughed.

"I will," he promised. "Anyway, I should probably let you go. Talk to you later?"

Ash

"Yeah, sure. It was great hearing from you. Don't keep me in the lurch next time," Ashley chuckled.

Isaac

Isaac chuckled as well.

"I won't," he promised. "Talk to you soon."

And they hung up.
