Taylor remembered fully well back at the beginning of the month when he'd had that little 'run-in' with Zac in the bathroom. He remembered what Zac had suggested, and he also remembered that Zac had called Tanya the following morning to voice his opinion.
Thus, he was definitely nervous when he knocked on her door.
Tanya
Tanya opened the door.
"Hi Taylor," she greeted, holding the door open for him. "Come on in."
Taylor
"Hi Tanya."
He made his way in with his head down, and took his usual seat.
"How are you?"
Tanya
Tanya closed the door and followed Taylor
"I am well, and yourself?" Tanya asked, sitting down in her own usual seat.
Taylor
Taylor shrugged.
"I ah... went to church last week for the first in a long time," he managed a short smile.
Tanya
Tanya raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah?" she asked. "How did that go?"
Taylor
"Well I can't say that it went well," Taylor folded his arms, his eyes to the floor.
"But from a different perspective I can't say it went badly either."
Tanya
Tanya nodded, aware that there probably wasn't going to be a more explicit answer.
"Are you ready to get started then?" she asked, referring to his regular treatment.
Taylor
Taylor nodded silently and closed his eyes.
"Sure."
Tanya
Tanya closed her eyes as well, and was soon delving into Taylor's mind again. She observed that her previous work was grafting and otherwise mending well. Then she went to work.
She was happy to find out that the damage to the part of his mind that she was working on today wasn't as bad as she had expected - although it was certainly no walk in the park. She was finished earlier than usual, and considered doing something more, but quickly came to the conclusion that there wasn't anything extra she could realisitically do in the time she had.
Tanya pulled out and sipped her drink.
"Done," she said.
Taylor
Taylor opened his eyes carefully, noticing that the headache he hadn't wasn't as large as usual.
"That seemed quicker," he murmured, checking his watch.
Tanya
Tanya nodded.
"The region I was mending today wasn't as bad as I had imagined," she replied.
She took another sip of her water before continuing.
"So... I understand that Zac told you his, ahh, little idea? What do you think?"
Taylor
Taylor shrugged.
"I don't understand how we could do it without people getting hurt," he shook his head sullenly.
Tanya
"Well, the simple answer is to put you somewhere where you can't access people," Tanya replied. "Of course, that's also the hard part, seeing as with atom manipulation we can slip through walls. Still, no one said it had to be a room. Some unpopulated area would do just as well... somewhere that was cut off from civilisation in some way, like an island. But forgetting the technicailities for the moment, what did you think of the idea itself? Do you think that there is any merit to it?"
Taylor
"I couldn't stay there," Taylor frowned.
"And well... I don't know. I couldn't say."
Tanya
"Taylor," Tanya said softly, "Everyone wants to see this problem dealt with. Personal safely aside, no one wants to see you go on like this. Given that no one has had any better ideas, and forgetting the hows for now, I need to know if you think it's worth a try. Then we get down to the nitty gritty and work out how to accomplish it without people getting hurt. I'm not saying you can't be uncertain - there are no certainties - but ultimately, we do need your yay or nay before we go ahead with it."
Taylor
Taylor ground his teeth for a moment.
"How can you expect me to come up with a solid answer when you know fully well what's going on inside my head?" he frowned.
"I can't even think straight at the best of times. And if I just said yes or no now you'd know I wouldn't really mean it or in hindsight thought about what I'd just consigned myself to."
Tanya
Tanya held up her hands.
"Sorry," she said.
She straightened up.
"Well, if you think you could get away from an island, we could always have the metal and technokinetics make you some sort of pod and isolate you in space, although I imagine that fresh air and room to run around in would be more benefitual."
Tanya was more thinking aloud than anything else.
Taylor
"I don't think I could get away," Taylor shook his head, looking towards the door.
He stopped himself whining as he fidgetted with his fingers nervously.
Tanya
Tanya apprasied Taylor for a moment.
"It's okay," she said softly. "It would take me a while to organise anything. I know it's hard for you to think straight, but if you have any opinions or anything at all that you would like to share on the matter, I would be more than happy to hear it. But we don't have to talk about it now, if you don't want to..."
Taylor
"I don't think any other time is going to be any better," Taylor shrugged, holding back an ill timed chuckle.
"But I don't want to... waste time in a sense that could be used to... sew the seeds of a new relationship with my brothers either."
Tanya
Tanya nodded.
"Then don't," she said. "Like I said, this may take awhile to organise. And as to that, maybe while things are being organised, another option might become apparent."
Taylor
Taylor nodded his agreement.
"Yeah, maybe..."
He scratched his arm awkwardly.
"And you'd let us know, right? If anything did?"
Tanya
"Absolutely," Tanya nodded. "You'd be the first to know."
She drank the last of her glass and reached for a cookie.
Taylor
"Cool."
Taylor hesitated again, feeling awkward.
"This... island thing. Is it... would it be an ongoing thing? I mean... how would we know when it was over? What if it never ends? What if... like, I can't be isolated for too long, you know?"
Tanya
Tanya nodded slowly.
"It's a good question."
She considered it for a moment.
"We'd have to have some form of surveilence - we can't just say, oh we'll keep you there for such and such a time and then take you back - you may have been on the verge of a breakthrough and by bringing you back we may have interupted that. Of course, there is also the prospect that it may not work at all... so surveilence will be neccesary. Unfortunately, it's also something we're going to have to play by ear. But yes, I certainly wouldn't want you isolated for too long."
Taylor
"If you're... taking a year to fix this," Taylor indicated his head, "what makes you think it'll work itself out in any less than six months?"
He leant forward, showing his readiness to really discuss it.
Tanya
"Do you consider six months to be too long?" Tanya inquired. "I honestly haven't formed any ideas of how long I think it would take, but that is a good point. Add to that, your treatments would still have to continue while you're on the island."
Taylor
"Isolated for that long I might as well be locked up," Taylor frowned and shrugged.
Tanya
Tanya nodded.
"Indeed," she said thoughtfully. "Which may be just as dangerous as letting things continue as is."
Taylor
"I've never been away from anyone I knew for that long. Being with Mast- Umm, Blakesley doesn't count," Taylor visibly struggled for a moment.
"That's even all a blur now. But I honestly don't know if I could deal with being isolaated that long. I mean obviously there'd be animals and insects and trees to talk to, but who's to say I won't take anything out on them even?"
Tanya
"Yes," Tanya nodded. "Something else we need to take into account. Perhaps we chould have people with you, just people who can protect themselves without hindering your progress. Speed, perhaps."
Taylor
"That doesn't particularly help with sonics," Taylor shrugged, pulling a face as he tried to think.
Tanya
Tanya frowned.
"That's true," she said. "We'd have to get an elusive sound based power. Someone who can escape, and withstand your sonics."
Taylor
"We need a miracle," Taylor chuckled helplessly.
Tanya
Tanya smiled.
"I could talk to Ron - he has Stealth. He'll probably know better than I which sound powers can do what."
Taylor
"At this point, anything would help," Taylor insisted.
"As long as... you know, the reason doesn't get out..."
Tanya
"Don't worry Taylor. My inquiries are always discreet," Tanya reassured him. "And as I said earlier, this is going to take a lot of organisation."
Taylor
"True," Taylor hunched his shoulders in a little as he had a slight personality change.
"And I guessed if something happened it wouldn't be happening until next year... I just don't want to have to compromise a tour or anything."
Tanya
Tanya nodded.
"There's no way it would happen this year. Whenever we do it - assuming we do - it will need to be well timed."
Taylor
"Do you... want to think it over and either... call me or wait until next month?" Taylor suggested.
Tanya
"We can talk about it again next month," Tanya nodded. "Although I suspect it will be more a progress report than any actual plans."
Taylor
"As long as it's an opening, right?" Taylor shrugged, before standing up.
"Thanks... again."
Tanya
"No problem, Taylor," Tanya said.
She stood as well.
"See you again next month."
Taylor
"Will do," Taylor nodded, before departing.
