Welcoming Trent to the gang

Written by Michelle

Libby

Libby sat back watching Matt and Dan playing basketball. Josh was... who knew where. If she recalled correctly, Avery was in her Ga'Revali class with Tanya. So it was just the three of them. And basketball wasn't much fun with only three people.

"Hey no fair!"

"What?"

You used your power to suck the ball away from me!"

"So what? Powers allowed."

"Yeah but I can't use my power to heal the ball away from you."

"Yeah, well, I can't injure you to get you out of the game."

"That's cheating even in human sports."

Libby rolled her eyes from the bench, wrapped a bubble around the ball and floated it away from them.

"Hey!" they both objected.

Libby giggled.

"Give us the ball back!" Dan commanded.

"Say please?"

But before Dan or Matt got say anything (let alone please), Josh arrived, a red-headed boy about their age in tow.

"Hi everyone!" he said cheerfully.

"Hi Josh," Libby said, "Whose the spunk?"

Dan snickered.

"Trent," the 'spunk' replied. "And you must be Sexy."

"Actually, my name is Libby. But you can call me Sexy if you want to."

"Can the flirting, she's mine," Matt joked.

"Only in your wildest dreams."

"Rats."

"Anyway, if Libby's done being dumb," Josh went on. "These are Dan and Matt. WHatcha doin'?"

"Well, we were playing basketball until Libby took the ball away," Dan glared at Libby.

Libby chuckled evilly.

"Well, you two were arguing over powers again. Dumb," she turned to Trent and pointed to the floating ball. "I have Bubbles, see?"

"Cool. What about the rest of you?"

"Healing," said Matt.

"Vacuum," said Dan.

"I have strength," Trent told them

"And I have invisibility," Josh said, as if they all didn't already know.

"I know what power you have," Trent said to his cousin.

"Yeah, I know. I just wanted to say it anyway. There's another one of us, Avery, but she not here right now. Uhh, where is she? Libby?"

"Ga'Revali I think."

"Ahh, okay, cool."

"Oh, I came up with another name for us!" Matt said jubilantly.

"Here we go again," Dan said.

"Matt is of the opinion that we need a name. Because the team we usually play basketball agains have a name - The Reds - and most people refer to us as 'Libby and the boys'," Libby explained. "Which is kinda dumb, 'cause Avie's not a boy."

"But she does go down to the surface a lot," Josh pointed out.

"Anyway!" Matt beamed. "I have it! We can call ourselves 'Mad Dogs Love Jumping Around' or MDLJA for short."

Silence.

"Our initals," Dan rolled his eyes.

"Well, Trent's one of us now," Josh put in importantly. "So that won't work."

"No, it will, really," Matt said. "We can be the um... MDLTJA - 'Mad Dogs Love To Jump Around'."

"Matt, you're an idiot," Libby said.

"I think I liked Raging Monkeys better," Dan said. "And we all know how much I liked that."

"Seriously, Matt-me-boy, we don't need a name. And anyway, MDLTJA just won't take," Josh said.

"We could just be the Mad Dogs," Trent suggested.

Silence.

"Please don't tell me you're siding with Matt... my own cousin..." Josh said.

"Well, it seems to me that his reason for thinking of a name is logical," Trent said. "I mean, if what everyone's been calling you isn't applicable, and you are a team..."

"At last! Someone has seen the light!" Matt said happily.

"Great, now you've agreed with him and it's going to his head," Libby said.

She eyed the bubble, popped it and the ball bounced off Matt's head.

"Hey!"

"Someone has to keep your head the right size."
