Genovian Society of Mutants

Written by Michelle

Mia and Madame Bella

Mia sat back and admired the party going on. It was the opening night of the Genovian Society of Mutants Club (or GSM).

Over the last couple of months, Mia had been seeking out appropriate mutants to found the society. Her biggest fear was that the club may end up becoming corrupt, like so many other organisations in the course of history. She did not want the day to come where people would be living in fear of a select few with a lot of power.

The GSM had two fronts and a back door. They also had guest memberships available - but full membership was invitation only.

One front was security - policing crooked mutants and worked in conjunction with the Genovian police force. The second front was community based.

The backdoor was for YIRAAS members, as the club itself doubled as their Genovian HQ. Mia had made a deal with the YIRAAS - this cover on the condition that their members who availed themselves of it would uphold the standards she expected her genuine members to uphold, unless of course, they were posing as guest members.

Guest members only had minimal access rights, and would be even available to mutant tourists. Guest members - at least the ones who were interested in a full membership - would be under assessment for the ability to abide by the club's moral code. And full members would be expected to follow the code, else be suspended or expelled.

Truly, the whole system was Honour-based. In some ways this made Mia rather nervous - she'd rather have some cut and dried rules - on the other by expecting her people to live by such a system, she bestowed a great deal of trust in them.

Only time would tell if she made the right decision.

Meanwhilst, on the other side of the hall, Madame Bella was having a great time. To her surprise and delight, she had been invited to become a full member - and there weren't very many of those at this time. She supposed it was a funny way for her own charity work to pay off (although, she wouldn't have been surprise - bitter but not surprised - if her working in an industry that "promotes vanity" had counted against her). Not that one can help the powers they were born with.

In any case, the next few weeks, months even would be interesting. Their young ruler was either very ambitious, or extremely naive. Maybe both.

Still, if it worked, would probably do the country a lot of good - and Genovia was probably a better country to test the system on than some others she could mention. Honour seemed to be a forgotten commodity these days. And really, honesty shouldn't be too much to ask.

But all that aside now... she had a party to enjoy!

Tina

Tina looked around from the corner she was hiding in, and crept over to Mia.

"I never know what do do at these fancy parties. What if nobody asks me to dance?" she asked her best friend.

Mia

"Dance by yourself?" Mia suggested with a grin. "No, I'm sure that someone will dance with you."

She gave her friend a hug.

Tina

Before Tina could respond, two young men she didn't recognize came over and asked them to dance.

"I'd be happy to," Tina responded, blushing. And started to do dance what Mia affectionately called 'the Wango'

Mia

Mia also agreed as well, and joined her friend on the dance floor.

"Great party," said her partner.

"Yes it is," Mia said happily.

Ending written by Joy

They danced for a while, then ate, then the party ended and they all went to bed.
