Aranince and Shannon
Shannon stopped short when she entered her bedroom.
"Ara?"
"Shazza!" Aranince beamed. "Great to see you again, girl! How you doing?"
"What are you doing here?"
"What kind of a greeting is that for your older sister?"
"I, uhh, sorry. It is good to see you... I just was not expecting..." Shannon took a moment to take a breath. "It is good to see you, Ara."
"And it's good to see you too," Aranince replied. "And also good to hear that you've been getting some control of these mutant powers of yours. Little diusturbing you know, hearing you talk in opposites all the time and never quite knowing if you were understanding your answers right."
Shannon smiled.
"You should have tried it from this end."
Aranince laughed.
"I suppose," she said. "So, how's the baby?"
"How do you know about -"
"I'm your sister, remember? I know all these things. I also know that you set up that video."
Shannon looked at her curiously.
"Yeah," Aranince grinned. "It was all so conviently timed. That guy knocks at your door the moment you are reaching for the video to turn it off? And you all so conviently forget to go through with it?"
She leaned over.
"You staged the whole thing to get out of the marriage. And what do you get for your troubles? Pregnant."
Shannon sat down next to her.
"Better pregnant than the rest of my life with... him."
Aranince grinned, her eyes glittering.
"Oh I approve. Arranged marriages is so dark ages. Personally, I didn't think you had it in you. But you proved me wrong."
She gave her a hug.
"What are you doing here, anyway?" Shannon asked. "I have been shunned after all - you put yourself at risk of being shunned too."
"If I was worried about that I wouldn't be here now would I?" Aranince replied. "Nope, I think I'm going to stay here with my rebel sister."
Shannon giggled.
"And besides, I'm so... slutty I'm probably on the verge of being shunned anyway. They all blame Dad, you know. Too many human vices in my life," Aranince snickered. "Ahh, stuff them. Them and their orders and codes and whatever else. Life's not worth living it you don't live a little. No point in being immortal or long-lived if you're life is as strict as that!"
Shannon didn't reply.
"Ahh, it's ironic," Aranince mused. "I'm the one who goes by my Elven name and yet I am the most human in my actions. Meanwhile you live the Elvish existance and go by your human one."
"You're better at Elven magic than I."
"True. But you're better at archery and running and other physical stuff. Anyway, I figure I'm gonna hang around this joint for awhile. There are some real cute guys around here."
"They're all younger than you."
"Good, more stamina."
Shannon shook her head and Aranince chuckled.
