20 January 2004 - Getting Off the Boat

Written by AiMsTeR

Lucious & Christian

Christian was silent as his eyes scanned the cabin

The four captors were above him, playing cards and drinking.

Looking out the back, Christian noticed again the lifeboat that was constantly dragging along behind them. He knew that unless Lucious was asleep he wouldn't get very far, but before the older alien settled down every night he'd knocked Christian unconscious so he'd have nothing to worry about.

Focusing on the cabin again, Christian caught sight of the fire extinguisher.

Knowing that Lucious would know if he ever planned to use it to his advantage, he began trying to reach for it. Pulling as hard as he could on the handcuffs, his fingertips were just touching the shelf where it sat.

Grunting a little, he looked around. Spotting a sea shell ornament, he grabbed it, and used it to push the extinguisher a bit closer. As soon as he could, he grabbed it.

And threw it overboard.

The four men above started when they heard the splash, but Christian guessed that Lucious soon knew what it was by going through him.

Taking a deep breath, Christian looked up at the shelf again.

Just the day before had Christian managed to steal a box of matches from a table and hide them behind him. Having grown up with Craig and other telepaths, he'd managed to keep Lucious from finding out.

He plucked them from their hiding place and drew one out, before lighting it. Then, he threw it down into the lower cabin.

Hiding the matches again, he sat back to wait.

Minutes later, Patrick was the one to notice the smell. Sent down to investigate, Christian watched as he searched for the cause of the smoke.

Seconds later, he was rushing back upstairs and alerting the other three, who in turn came down.

"What did you do?" Lucious demanded, glaring at Christian.

Christian remained emotionless, doing his best to forget. Lucious growled, remembering that the fire extinguisher had gone overboard.

"Use the seawater!" Duke exclaimed, using cups to fetch it.

Christian smirked. The fire had already spread and they were going to fight it with cups.

"No, no... it's already out of control," Lucious fumed, "get everything into the lifeboat."

He turned back to Christian.

"You're lucky I haven't decided what to do with you yet, or I'd be leaving you here."

He took over his mind again as he unlocked his handcuffs and cuffed his hands together behind his back again. Then he led him out onto the lifeboat.

Patrick, Michael and Duke were loading as much as they could onto it, before a small explosion prompted them to leave everything else.

"We've got to get out of here before it gets to the fuel," Patrick insisted, "let's go."

They got in, started the motor, and Michael began to steer it away from the boat. Moments later, the fire reached the fuel, and the boat exploded.

"So now what? Where are we going?" Patrick asked.

Lucious hesitated, looking Christian over.

"Let's go to the Miami warehouse. We can leave Christian there for the time being," he replied.

"Miami? Are you sure that's..."

"Yes I'm sure," Lucious instsed, "trust me. No one will get on his bad side."
