20 January 2004 - Too tired to fight

Faith and Angel

Faith opened the door to her room and looked out. She didn't see anyone so she crept down the stairs and ran out of the house before anyone could stop her.

She looked around and shivered at the vast empty space around her. Everything looked almost familiar, but not at the same time. A part of her knew that this used to be her home, but now, all she felt was cold and scared.

Angelus sniffed the air and smiled slightly. He could smell fear... and it was a smell he knew all too well... it was Faith.

He headed off in her direction, and found her standing under a streetlight, looking lost and helpless.

"Faith?" he said, imitating Angel.

Faith looked at him blankly, her mind working through her buried memories, trying to work out who this was.

"Angel?"

"You look... come here." Angelus opened his arms to hug her.

Faith remembered vaguely that they were friends, so she allowed herself to slide into his arms.

"Come on, I'll take you with me, ok?"

"Ok."

Angelus lifted Faith into his arms and he carried her to where he had a car waiting. He gently deposited her in the backseat, then climbed in after her, directing the driver to go to his hotel.

They arrived at the hotel, and Angelus took Faith to his room, and lay her down on his bed. Without hesitation, he chained her up, but she didn't fight against the bonds on her ankles or wrists.

Something was wrong.

Angelus sat beside her, and looked at her for a long moment, then decided to leave her alone for the time being.

Inside his mind, he wasn't sure he could hurt Faith again.

Not when she'd already been broken before he got to play.
