Rebekah
Rebekah knocked on Professor Xavier's office door and waited for him to call her in.
She knew he'd probably be busy, but the sooner she organised the trip away, the better everyone would feel.
Xavier.
"Come in, Rebekah," Xavier said clearly.
He turned over the next page of the paperwork he was attending to and signed his name.
Rebekah
"Thank you."
Rebekah walked in and smiled nervously.
"I didn't interrupt anything, did I?"
Xavier.
"Nothing I can't attend to later," Xavier said, putting his pen back in its holder and putting the paperwork away.
"What can I do for you?"
Rebekah
"Well... Jonothon Starsmore and I were talking the other night... and we were thinking that maybe... it would be a good idea for a few of us to go away for a weekend or something."
Rebekah decided to blurt it out. No point beating around the bush.
Xavier.
Xavier steepled his fingers and looked at her steadily.
"Any particular reason why you both feel this way?"
Rebekah
"Just at the moment... there's too many bad memories here, bad feelings, bad thoughts... I think we just need a break from it."
Rebekah wasn't even sure if she was making sense.
Xavier.
"I think...that would be fine," Xavier said.
"Any particular place you thought about going to?"
Rebekah
"I'm not sure yet... I was thinking the snow or something, because we were all just at the beach."
Rebekah shrugged.
Xavier.
"You would have to have a teacher with you," Xavier said.
"Who would you ask?"
Rebekah
"Yeah, we figured we might have to."
Rebekah shrugged.
"I'm not sure."
Xavier.
"Perhaps Storm?" Xavier suggested.
"I do not know if Logan would be willing to leave his daughter again so soon...if you go somewhere relatively remote, perhaps Kurt could accompany you. While he is not strictly staff, he is a responsible adult."
Rebekah
"Oui, I think Kurt. Storm's done enough for us already."
Plus her cooking is really bad...
Xavier.
Xavier smiled slightly.
"Indeed. If you will ask him...I will see what I can do on the accomdation side of things."
Rebekah
Rebekah stood up.
"Thank you, Professor."
Xavier.
"That is quite alright, Rebekah," Xavier said.
"You're welcome. Kurt's in the recreation room."
Rebekah
"Merci."
Rebekah left and headed off to the rec room where she saw Kurt.
"Morning Kurt."
Kurt Wagner.
"Guten Morgan, liebling," Kurt said.
"And how are you today?"
Rebekah
"I'm very good, merci, and how are you?"
Rebekah sat down on the couch near him.
Kurt.
"I am gutt," Kurt said in his thick German accent.
"So, for vhat are you seeing me, Bek?"
Rebekah
"Well, I have a favour to ask of you, and you can absolutely totally say no if you don't want to do this."
Rebekah smiled sweetly.
"A few students are going away for a weekend, but the Professor says we can't go without an adult supervising us... and well, I was sorta asking if you'd like to be that adult."
Kurt.
Kurt blinked slightly, then smiled.
"Ja, of course I vould like to. I am honoured you vould ask."
Rebekah
"Merci, Kurt!"
Rebekah hugged the older mutant.
"I'm not sure where we're going yet, Professor Xavier said he'd look into that. But it'll be at the snow."
Kurt.
Kurt smiled.
"Ja, sound gutt, liebling. Snow, is cold but I grew up where it snowed mostly all year round."
Rebekah
"Well, thank you again."
Rebekah hopped up.
"I should go find Jono and the others. But I'll let you know what's happening and when..."
Kurt.
"Ja, liebling. Vell, I vill be glad to go wif you," Kurt said.
Rebekah
Rebekah thanked him again and went to the band room.
Jonothon.
"Hey, Bek."
Jonothon scribbled something across a piece of paper, then looked up.
Rebekah
"Hey... we got the go ahead."
Rebekah sat herself down on a seat.
Jonothon.
"Great. Any idea where we're going?"
Jonothon looked at her curiously.
Rebekah
"The snow. The professor is working it out for us. And Kurt is coming to look after us."
Rebekah nodded.
Jonothon.
Jonothon relaxed visibly.
"Well, that's alright then. Not like he's sending Bitchy and No-Brain with us."
Rebekah
"Oui, so now we should tell everyone."
Rebekah rubbed her eyes.
Jonothon.
"You alright?"
Not waiting for an answer, Jonothon moved up behind her and started to massage her shoulders.
"Well, who are we taking with us?"
Rebekah
"Merci... I'm ok."
Rebekah thought for a moment.
"Well... the band... Bobby... Dem?"
Jonothon.
Jonothon nodded slightly, hands continuing their soothing movements.
"Yeah. Sounds about right."
Rebekah
"So, when do we want to go? Maybe during the week. We are on holidays now."
Rebekah closed her eyes and sighed slightly.
Jonothon.
"Even just a few days would probably be enough. Just enough to get quit of the whining buzz in our 'eads."
Jonothon made an expression of distaste.
Rebekah
"Tell me about it."
Rebekah sighed.
"I'm so ready to get out of here it's not funny."
Jonothon.
"Wonder how the prof ain't bonkers yet," Jonothon said.
"He must have a hell of a lot of patience."
Rebekah
"He's a good humanitarian?" Rebekah suggested.
Jonothon.
"Or he's already insane," Jonothon said wryly.
"Can be hard to tell."
Rebekah
"Could be."
Rebekah smiled.
"So, how are you today?"
Jonothon.
"Not quite as suicidal as usual. You?" Jonothon said.
Rebekah
"Better, now that I know we're going to be away for a bit."
Rebekah leaned back in her chair.
Jonothon.
"Yeah, does kinda take the edge off," Jonothon said.
"Cabon fever is not just a country thing."
Rebekah
"Anything to get my thoughts off... everything."
Rebekah shrugged again.
Jonothon.
"Know what you mean."
Jonothon's face twitched slightly.
"Bloody oath, do I know what you mean.
Rebekah
"Just... have to keep busy, I guess."
Rebekah looked at Jonothon and then looked away.
Jonothon.
"And it's not like I can afford to switch off," Jonothon said.
"I couldn't talk then. Less I want to go back to scribbling on bits of paper."
Rebekah
"Not fun."
Rebekah shrugged slightly.
"It'll be good to get away... we can hang out in the ski lodge... flirt with the cute instructors..."
Jonothon.
Jonothon laughed.
"You can flirt with the cute ski instructors.
Rebekah
"Ok, I can flirt with the cut ski instructors... and you can wait on me, hand and foot?"
Rebekah's eyes sparkled.
Jonothon.
"No fear! I'll be inside, watching. Not so stupid as to go outside in snow."
JOnothon shook his head slightly.
Rebekah
"Well, I am most glad we worked that out."
Rebekah grinned.
"So... do you want to tell everyone?"
Jonothon.
"Yeah, ok..."
Jonothon's brown eyes went distant as he told everyone who they were going to take with them about the trip.
"Done."
Rebekah
"Handy."
Rebekah got to her feet.
"Well, I'm going to go pack, I'll catch you later?"
Jonothon.
"Ok, see you when we go or before," Jonothon said, then turned back to his guitar.
Rebekah
"Bye."
Rebekah half ran from the room and went to pack.
